The Wusikstation + Cobalt Song Contest
----------------------------------------------
Wusik Dot Com and Sanford Sound Design have teamed together to create the
Wusikstation + Cobalt Song Contest. Write a song using the demo versions of
the Wusikstation and Cobalt and get your chance to win a release copy
of both!
Downlaod the Wusikstation demo here:
http://www.wusik.com/w/demo.html
Download the Cobalt demo here:
http://www.lesliesanford.com/Cobalt/CobaltDemo.shtml
Contest Rules:
1) There will be three winners, each receiving a free copy of the Wusikstation and Cobalt.
2) The song can be any style and of any length.
3) The song has to be original, i.e. you have to be the author of the song.
4) 100% of the song must be done with the Wusikstation and Cobalt exclusively.
There's no restriction on how much you use one or the other. For example, if
you use Cobalt for a bass part only, that's cool.
5) We have permission to share the winners' songs on our websites. You, of course,
will retain the copyright to the song.
6) The song is in 160kpbs MP3 file format.
Please include the following with your entry:
1) Your name
2) Contact email
3) Song title
4) A description of the song.
5) Which parts of the song were used by the Wusikstation and which parts by Cobalt.
To enter, zip up the song with a text file including the above information, and upload it to
the anonymous ftp area at ftp://ftp.wusik.com inside the /incoming directory.
Entry deadline was April 30th, now extended until May 15th.
Once the deadline has expired, KVR folks will get a chance to vote for the best song.
The combination of the Wusikstation and Cobalt should inspire some
imaginative results. We look forward to hearing what you come up with.
So get to it!

Sounds like fun, but I already own Wusik and got Cobalt free as beta tester.
If you don't have them, they're both great.
Cobalt can make some nice sounds.

Hey, this should be interesting. If I had the time I might've entered, as Cobalt seems like a nice instrument. Nice of you guys to do this. I wonder though, is mastering allowed? Anything like compression, eqing etc...?

So, to be clear, who submit a song how can give proof that he used only Wusik & Cobalt? For example I use to work without sequencing (only straight multitrack audio recording), if you ask me the nuendo, cubase, sonar, etc., project file as a proof I can't provide it.
I'm asking this because once I won a contest and they asked my project file, and my project was a 60Mb multitrack recording (in the end I sent them a mp3 version of 6Mb, lucky enough).

With Cobalt, if you use one of the presets built into it, you can include the name of the preset with your entry. If it's a custom preset, include the fxp or fxb file (we promise not to use the file for anything other than verifying the song). With the Wusikstation, I'm not sure what the restrictions are on the demo, but the same applies to it.MaxSynths wrote:So, to be clear, who submit a song how can give proof that he used only Wusik & Cobalt? Sound fair?

I already have Wusik 4, but not Cobalt...
Is it Ok for me to enter anyways? Also, what presets should I be limited to since the full version of Wusik most likely has more than the demo version?

I have a few of those, but can I maybe use the ones that are in the older/original Wusik collection like from version 2 or 3? Or is there a list of what is included in the version 4 demo?WilliamK wrote:You should be ok, you can use any sound that shows up at our database here:Examigan wrote:I already have Wusik 4, but not Cobalt...

I have the 4 gig collection but it wouldn't be fair, so would need to see what is in that demo I guess.

The demo has no sounds at all, but users can download up to 5 sounds from the database free. (those that costs only 1 credit)
