...it's not the title to a dodgy porn movie, it's an update to my compression/distortion/modulation plug-in, dirtbox, now at version 3

http://www.delamancha.co.uk/dirtbox.htm

It's no longer freeware, but is only $15 and the update is extensive

+ completely new parallel compressor
+ 18 flavours of dirt and 3 dirt slots
+ improved bit crushing and sample rate reduction control
+ extended ring modulation, 12 varieties and 11 waveforms
+ 4 way XY pad for modulation of up to 4 parameters
+ 2 tempo sync LFOs to automate XY pad and 2 other parameters
+ all modulation is shown in real-time visual indicators for each parameter, LFO and XY pad
+ over 50 presets covering subtle to painful

You'll find a demo version of the VST on my website, which is fully functioning except for 1s silence every 10s and a splash screen. There are also 5 audio demos covering drums, vox, electric piano and guitar.

<Edit>
Note for users of FL Studio 8.0
There is a known compatibility issue of dirtbox with FL8. The plugin will load, but will not generate audio and will crash FL on deletion/replacement. This issue is only for FL8, there is no issue for FL7 or any other host. This is due to a bug in the FL VST wrapper, confirmed by Imageline (the makers of FL Studio).

Imageline have now released an update to FL8 which fixes the bug and allows dirtbox to work correctly
Click here to go to the Imageline forum thread where you can download the FL8 update
The update is 1.7MB and you unzip the contents into your FL8 directory. You need to be logged in to the forum to be able to download the update

Don't click here if you can't control yourself!

MMmmmh, an English gentleman asking for dollars in these times, bought w/o demoing.

We should buy everything as a kind of payback for all your free stuff (although I don't actually - shame...)

thank god for izotope.

I just bought it, I love saturation on a synth. I can't recall a cool synth that wasn't too dull in its natural way.

Will you be doing the same with any of of your other gems?

Post

are you going to make all your plugins shareware? i hope so :D

if so...are you going to make bundle/bundles?

Thanks for the support and early purchases :)

so, to answer your questions
SWAN808 wrote:AU?
It's a Windows VST only, as are all my plugins, as they are made in SynthEdit and I don't have / can't justify a Mac

The old one, version 2, is now retired from service, having been replaced by an upgrade to version 3. No need to cry though, $15 buys you a lot of distortion porn

As I learn new tricks, get suggestions from users and acquire new modules, I do get tempted to go back and update older plugins. If you mean will I charge money for them, well that depends really. For example, with dirtbox, the new version is completely rewritten from scratch and adds so much more functionality that it's practically a different plugin. It also contains quite a few payware SE modules, where the old one didn't. To cover this cost, I decided to charge a small price for this one. It doesn't mean all my work will be payware, I just recently released machin and freq show for free

for the freeware/payware question, see above, but I will continue to do both. There's a difference between making something to sell (the pressures for it to look a certain way, conform to certain comfortable norms etc) and making something for free (the ability to experiment, be quirky, be humorous)

On bundles, yes, I've been looking around for a web shop application to allow me to create bundles and multiple purchases in a flexible way. I think I've found one that does the job, so now it's a question of getting it integrated and working on my website.....coming soon....

forgot to mention this too...

As the Ohmboys says, "People love distortion, they always want more!"

The old free dirtbox was a great one so this is almost a buy without demoing.
