Does this have ALL the factory sounds PLUS 2 G ?
Is this the 6+ Gig factory sounds ?
Or is it just an additional expansion ?

This is the same soundset a person gets if they purchase Sampletank 2.5 XL, but without the Sampletank engine.
Originally, Sampletank 2 XL had 4.5 gig of sounds, and were frankly a little inconsistant. Sonik Reality did not make the original Sampletank 2 XL sounds, but IK had Sonik Reality rework the soundset when Sampletank 2.5 came out. They polished up some of the sounds, replaced a few clunkers, and added a couple gigs of new sounds to the set, to fill it out a bit. Previous owners of Sampletank 2 were given the Sampletank 2.5 engine upgrade free, but were charged for the sound upgrade. The term sound "upgrade" in this case, means it's a sound upgrade from the Sampletank 2 XL sounds, to Sampletank 2.5 XL sounds. This is an extra 2 gigs over the original ST 2 XL sounds.
If someone has the old ST2 XL soundset, they could purchase this to update thier library. They would most likely delete thier old soundset and replace it with this set.
Squids has had a few GB's which included the ST 2.5 engine, but not the sounds. Purchasing this set would also give those people who have a ST engine, but not the ST sounds, a chance to get them.
Squids might want to have someone check that description,,, I don't think it's worded right.

If this product is in fact the entire 'reworked' ST2.5XL library and not an add-on to the existing ST2 library, it would be a great value for those participating in this recent GB. Purchsase the 2.5XL library for use with the licensed ST2.5 engine from the GB and you've got the full ST2.5XL product for a fraction of the full price, less than an upgrade/crossgrade, and further discounted for esoundz memebers.
However - and here's where my observation turns to a question - for those of us who have purchsed other SR SampleTand library add-ons (such as any of the SonikCapsules, Expansion Tanks), is there duplication with any of that and the ST-provided content in the 2.5 XL library?
Squids, what's the long and short on this?

Actually harmony, I believe there are cheaper alternatives to do this if you are already an owner of the original ST2.0 soundset. Since I originally purchased this, I believe I have purchased two additional 'sounds upgrades' (from Squids, who else?) to bring me up to speed on the full current soundset. One of these upgrades was a free (or close to free) tweak, and the other cost a bit, but still only a fraction of the product you listed.harmony gardens wrote: If someone has the old ST2 XL soundset, they could purchase this to update their library. I'm sure interested parties could check with Allen at Esoundz dot com directly to get the best deal for them.

Allen offered me the lot for 179$ in december. That was too much for my taste, because i paid 469 € for the original ST 2 XL, when it came out. I have Kontakt 2/3 and two libraries from Yellow Tools and i wanted to have the upgrade mainly to be able to use the new combis.

All the more reason to have someone check the wording. This says it's a sound upgrade to 2.5, and AFAIK, there haven't been any expansions to the sounds since 2.5. I think you're right about the tweak update, though.BERFAB wrote:Actually harmony, I believe there are cheaper alternatives to do this if you are already an owner of the original ST2.0 soundset. At anyrate, this has been linked many times as the full Sampletank set.
Squids will have to speak to us I guess. Now I'm confused, too.

I just checked my old purchases from Esoundz. I bought the original IK Studio bundle (ST2, T-Racks and AT) even though I already owned ST2 because it came with the new sounds upgrade ($99 retail IIRC) plus the free upgrade to AT2. The other 'sound upgrade' was labelled as Free ST2.1 upgrade which was the tweaks that I mentioned before.harmony gardens wrote:All the more reason to have someone check the wording. I don't know if there was an additional sound upgrade that I missed, but the new 2.5 combi's work fine for me, so I assume that I'm all set since that last one.

Hey guys,I just received the SampleTank XL Sounds Upgrade. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1338 (http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=1338)
When I installed the sounds from the two discs, the discs and contents were labeled as SampleTank 2.1, and totaled about 6.26GB.
Is it just the engine that's at 2.5, with the soundset at 2.1?
Whatever the case, I have a metric pantload of sounds now!
