Hark and hear yee!

My cohorts and I are very proud to present the second installment of our A La Kart compilations including music by 22tape, 3am (justin3am), Jazzyspoon, Madder Than You (blortblort) and zoozither (polyslax). We have all devoted the last few months to producing the best work we are capable of and hopefully you all can enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Thanks goes to Jared (22tape) for making all this happen and to The Method Most Used for the artwork and a special thanks to Allen (blortblort) for being such an awesome addition to the crew!

I enjoyed the previews so I bought the FLAC. I'm going to check out the first comp again.

How did you guys determine the track order?

And blortblort, the distortion on the ep on "There all along" is beautiful, as is the composition.

I'm listening to the album now (on "Recherche") and I'm glad I purchased it.

Thanks very much, GJ. you flatter me! again- I feel that Justin's mastering skill really makes that one shine. Before he got a hold of it, it sounded good...but too ...err...pillowy? Anyway- it has more bite now, but didn't lose any warmth. I really enjoy it now myself

hope you do enjoy the rest of the compilation. I know I do!

Justin had a pretty open mind to the track order as we were sending the unmastered tracks to him. He sort of had clusters of tracks already arranged in his head and then just pushed those clusters together nicely. While each song stands well on it's own, the overall mix/order of these tracks worked out nicely in a kind of "audio roller coaster" fashion.
Any details I'm sure Justin could fill in. I only know this much because I asked him last week what the method behind the track order was.

Yeah, the track order came about on it's own in a way... if that makes any sense. I received mixes of the tracks one by one in MP3 form and I listened to them quite a lot before having all of them together. Some of the transitions were immediately obvious (the sequence of "Tokyo Bullet Train", "There All Along", and "Recherche" for instance) and I knew that "Unstuck in Time" had to be the final track but I would commonly put all the files in a playlist and then use shuffle playback to help me decide.
