Ambient style, reminds me of The Orb a bit, although not heard from them in a long time. It's another track from a free EP I just released.

Feedback on the mix would be appreciated.. I'm in two minds, depending on mood and what I'm listening on.

Originally i wrote: "only problem is the mix sounds a bit lacking to me, i think it's the wave sounds in the background (you can clearly hear at ~05:08 ) that makes the whole piece sound hazy. i would have definetly edited it/filtered it etc."

Writing this as I'm listening..

Would like to hear the girl's voice cleaned and sweatened a bit and tad mor promininent in the beginning, maybe the synthy drone softened, and the reverb for it warmed with medium-large sized room setting keeping the same dampening. Mix-wise that's my ear for it.

Artistically spot on. Makes me angry at something my girlfriend might have said, if I had one right now.

I did put a lot of effort into the production for this one, and I think you start to doubt your own ears.

The suggestions for wave, reverb, and pad are things I worried over... and I think there is a sweet spot in there somwhere between the earlier mixes and this mix, but I don't think I can hit it right now to be honest.

The fact you have been so positive though makes me happy that this is at least in the ballpark of where I wanted it, so really appreciate you taking the time.

I did put a lot of effort into the production for this one, and I think you start to doubt your own ears.

It can be hard to mix your own stuff, especialy after pouring your blood into the creative end of it. It definetely takes a different ear to mix it then to make it imo. It helps to pretend that someone else created it I guess. Sometimes a small break after it's been created helps. Or first mixing other peoples stuff or you mix each others. The last one worked out best for me, at least until felt I was comfortable with my mixing ear.

For me it was hard to nix of a synth line that I had just spent 20+ loving hours programming. But in the end I remembered just exactly WHY it didn't work. And It did not make the same mistake again.

And there is some voodoo involved, as one mixer can have different preferences and fixes then another and it also depends on the type music they commonly work with. I tend to come from the Ambient perspective myself. And I don't go for the least destructive method either, rather I go for what I feel focuses the artistic intent the "best". My voodoo might not be your voodoo, or someone else either.

That being said there are some wonderful books out there to make the process much less painful.

I just don't want you to get discouraged, you have some good textures and timbres in there and the the fact that it causes me to visualize a personal event is significant.
