A lot of people have been asking about this so we'll give you all a little head's up on what's coming from Sonic Reality for BFD2. As some of you may have seen we've been running an ad in some of the magazines for a product in the Studio ProFile series called "Drum Masters Gold Edition" featuring legendary drummers like Jerry Marotta, Danny Gottlieb, John Blackwell and more. Originally the product was going to have just Kontakt format kits but we added in BFD2 support as well (hence the delay on the "now available in stores" thing... almost available anyway). But those kits and others will also be available even sooner ala carte and downloadable too!

So, what we have coming are different sized kits of different complexity. For BFD they are mapped in the BFD standard mapping so they work with BFD midi files and fit with whatever else you've got in there.

Talking about the drum kits coming... we've got a Ringo-style kit that fits with the multi-track loops in the current Master Engineering Group Buy we're doing on www.esoundz.com right now. We also have Bonham-style kit which also includes a kit played with HANDS (ala Moby Dick). Then, from some great drummers we have Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel) recorded in his studio with a unique Yamaha kit that has three snares. We also sampled his Taos Native American drums with a massive bass drum that is THUNDEROUS. Danny Gottlieb was sampled on a simple DW kit but the big deal there is the cymbals. We have a whole huge collection of cymbal samples. We might even make them available ala carte or in small sets because there's over 40 gigbytes of just cymbals from him... including everything under the sun! There's even the Joe Morello ride cymbal used on Brubeck's Take 5 in there plus old jazz cymbals from Mel Lewis and Don Lemond... very rare stuff. Prototype cymbals and of course the Paiste and Zildjians that Danny used with jazz legends such as Pat Metheny Group. That includes Flat rides which are hard to come by in samples for some reason. Then we've got a Tama Star Classic from John Blackwell (Prince, Justin Timberlake) as well as a nice Yamaha Birch kit from that session as well. In the same studio we sampled a great sounding Sonor kit too. Then some of my favorites are the drums we sampled over at Kevin Gilbert's old studio with Nick D'Virgilio. First we have a Premier "Collins-style" kit with a mix of Genesis flavors like timbale toms, rotos and those concert toms in an immense sounding room modeled after the Townhouse (where Gabriel recorded Phil for PG3... intruder, no self control etc. - also a good sounding room for that In The Air Tonight drum sound). Then we sampled a Collins-style Gretsch kit in there as well as a 1940's Leedy kit for a Zep-style kit. We sampled that with both the original old beat up snare as well as the same exact Tama snare that was used on Nirvana's Nevermind album. So this is a really great rock kit.

Beyond that there's more... a lot more. Everything you could imagine really. It's been worked on for years and years. Totally insane that we haven't released it before but we get backed up with a lot of things when other products take front seat. But we have more drums than any other sound company on the planet. I'm sure of it. It will just take time for all of these to come out that's all. We're talking hundreds of thousands of individual hits here!

Stay tuned for more info on releases. If you have any questions or request feel free to respond to this thread. We've been talking about this in other threads so it is better to keep the dicussion on SR's BFD support in this thread.

We'll try to add in the graphics when we can. Maybe not in all cases but we'll do our best.
