Sytrus/Kore 2 conversion weirdness

This is a strange one. I have converted the entire default bank for Sytrus 2.5 to NI KORE 2 ksd's using its "import patches" dialogue. For most synths the average ksd is around 2-4 kb each. However for some reason the size of the ksd's converted from Sytrus 2.5 get progressively bigger depending on the order they were processed in (which appears to have been alphabetical). So the first few patches starting with "a" are at 30-40 kb (in itself that's about 10x the average but not exceptional) but every patch adds a few kb till we get to the last few patches at "w" are reaching nearly 700kb each ksd. This is a smooth linear progression - looks almost as if data from each patch is being added in some way to the following one during the conversion.
I have fed this back to the NI team too - afaik no other plugin exhibits this behaviour - all the others I have converted file size stays stable give or take a few kb. I guess you need to work together on this.

hi aMUSEd
i checked my coverted sytrus bank and i got the same behaviour!
i also got the Butterfly bank and my list started with
- SynStr-Rich ensemble.ksd 5KB
- Arp-3o3ish.ksd 6 KB
and ended with
- Wind-Syntheish bassoon.ksd 825 KB
- Wind-Trumpet.ksd 827 KB
all other plug imports are ok
- vanguard all at 3KB
- Sylenth all at 25 KB
- camel Phat & Space all at 6 - 8 KB

I'll let NI know it's been confirmed - thanks

This is normal because of the way I implemented saving in Sytrus. Only programs that have been opened (and thus possibly changed) are saved in the file. So if all programs are opened one by one, the saved file will become bigger and bigger.
If I hadn't implemented it this way, all saved files would be as big as the last one.

So can it be changed? - it's getting a bit ridiculous having preset files several megabytes in size

No, it can't really be changed. Saving fxp (presets) instead of fxb (banks) might help though, if that's an option in Kore 2.

Only one by one which would take forever

Look at it this way: if I hadn't implemented it like this, every bank file would take the maximum size.

Yeah I get that but no other program has this issue so it must be handling presets in a radically different way from most VSTs.

Actually, I've heard of one other that does the same thing; I can't remember what it is, though. I'll look for the info later today.aMUSEd wrote:Yeah I get that but no other program has this issue so it must be handling presets in a radically different way from most VSTs.

Did you find out EW? - might help in finding a solution although it looks like NI are not able to fix this as it has to come from Image Line.

No, I didn't yet. I'm trying to remember in which forum/thread I saw the issue come up; I'm not sure whether or not it was the Kore forum.
