Really nice. Music to sip espresso to on a Tuesday lunchtime (over here)

I also got an 80's style electro dub reggae vibe from this - a new genre maybe dubloungae?

I like the composition but something about the sounds makes me think of the bad old days of songs made in Cakewalk or somesuch.

I'm intrigued to know whether repeated listens will overcome that bias or not. I guess I'll have to give it a whirl a few more times. Is it too soon for this to be retro?

Thanks Az're-ul. It's supposed to be background type stuff, easy on the ears. I've been known to do tangonica in the past, now dublougae! It seems I'm becoming a genre defining artist!

I used to quite like Cakewalk acutally

The main sounds are from a soundfont (rhodes type thing), Reaktor (the intro/outro sound), I forgot what the middle lead sound is, but I believe it's from some Reaktor ensemble as well. Maybe it's the fuzzy TR-606 (i think) sample that makes it feel 80's/bad old days (depending on musical taste).

Ah, yes, it's the drums lol.

And right after I'd posted my oft-repeated thought that drumbeat/drum sound is what unconsciously defines the genre of a song most of the time.

I actually use TR-606 sounds sometimes but I pwn the hell outta them with fx so I didn't even catch that part. My favorite electronic drum is actually the woodblock/cowbell... despite the fact that I generally loathe the real version! Odd, no?

I guess the dissonance is that this song is much like many of mine in some weird ways. Latin off-beat clave rhythms with the perc sound, raggae 2/4 with the synth chords, shitty electronic drum sounds. Defeating my own expectations!

I still really like the composition, and have adjusted my ears to the sounds accordinly with repeated listens. Never hurts to revisit one's prolepses! It's actually in the daevlmakr EULA!

That delay is tastey. What is that?
