Drop down list for "style"

I think a drop down list (as is available for "type" and "module") for the "style" search option is really needed. A drop down list will allow the user to know what styles are actually available to search for rather than taking a shot in the dark and searching for "Hard Trance". Why allow a user to search for a style that isn't available or has been called something different? Plus it would prevent loads of "style" types being created when suitable ones are already available. For example - you create what you think is an industrial style kik drum. You then want to save this with a "style" type attached to it. By having all current "style" types available in a list, you can see if a suitable alternative "style" is already available to use rather than creating a new "style". :)

Right said .... just that we are a little weak in setting up kits as belonging to a style. What I mean is that actually this is kind of unused property. the problem is that kits are quite hard to assign to certain stykles, some are, but many are really difficulart and at least fit 3 or4 styles, all in all depending on how many cathegories you make.

I understand the problem that kits or pads can be hard to assign to just one "style". :?

How about:-

1)user selects "style" as a search option

2)RMV then searches for all "style" types on ther user's drive and then lists them all

3)the user can then select multiple "style" types from this list from which to search. For example:- if the user has, amongst their "style" types on their harddrive, "trance" and "hard dance", they could select both of these "style" types from the list and search for pads or kits that covered either of these "style" types.

I believe that one approach is to include a fuzzy search as hesnotthemessiah suggested.
Alternatively the number of styles could be severly reduced to only include higher level groupings, for example metal, hip hop, electro.

Best approach IMHO (and of course the most complicated one) is to have one general style (ie metal) and then several classifications underneath, for example, speed, trash, old school, etc. Both as drop down boxes with the possibility to add custom values of course ;-)
