TNZ - Wintery in Flat B [Piano]

Something different:

Recently got a PadKontrol intending to have lots of fun playing with beats and stuff.. but it came with a really nice s/w bundle!.. including pianoteq lite.. so I've hardly touched the drum pads.. and instead ended up writing this (very simple!) piece for piano..

<excuses>Very first thing I've ever written for solo piano, and years since I've put in any serious practice! (This is the mildly edited version of it played .. as I'm still practising it! ) </excuses>

Simple is good... hell I specialize in simple... anyhow, quite a pleasant piece, I liked it!

p.s. thought the piano didn't sound great tho, yet pianoteq is my virtual piano... are there fewer velocity layers in the lite version?

Not sure about piano sound, I don't think the velocity is limited in lite.. It may be the preset, because it is not saved, and I just realised I lost the settings I was using before.. but that would just be a different piano sound and reverb.. this one is the default.

Or it could be the keyboard I used, non weighted midi controller.. so won't be very subtle velocity wise.. I've got a digital piano gathering dust and doing this has given me a taste for it so may rescue that and put something better together.

Quite like this sound though, certainly good enough for this tune imo.

Overall I thought it sounded pretty good, but there were a few areas where it fell down for me. Just imo and all as I'm sure no piano player. Maybe it's just cause I'm used to slathering fx all over mine.

Very nice melodies, and another musician with the great idea to put winter, snow, aaaah, HEAVEN for me in the title . Yes, it's simple, but like polyslax said, good. You could always add - if you want - a simple , to keep the spirit of the song - bass or noises or whatever you would like in a later session. I often noodle along and keep the results, if not too horrible, for later work.
Nice that they gave you a working piano additionally to the PadKontrol! I own the AkoustikPiano and the artvista Grand, which I like both, but I know many who prefer the pianoteq by FAR, and say they'd never need a sample-packed thing like my ones:).

I'm happy with simple, just managing expectations .. some of my favourite piano music is as simple as this in terms of numbers of notes.. it's actually more interesting to me as a result, because I know that all the problems I hear in this are straighforwardly ones of phrasing, harmonisation and structure.. I love the idea of concentrating on improving those areas, using a form where it is all laid bare - i.e. the point is not to add more notes or change the sounds, but to choose the right ones. Accuracy I guess.

Surprised myself how much fun this is, and remembered a love of piano I'd forgotten. Really surprised at the quality of a piano simulation too.. I had absolutely no idea pianotech was even possible.. wow!
