Accessing the ReTank loops in ST2L
[Squids]Can someone please tell me how I can access my ReTank loops? I can't find them or let alone know how to use them!
Can anyone point me in the direction? Do I need a Retank loop station? I've downloaded and installed the three zip files, Are they in Sampletank? Where?
ReTank loops are in your esoundz member's area. If they are not there then check with allen (at) esoundz (dot) com for support help. In fact he is your point of contact for ALL support help before talking to IK because he is aware of all GB aspects and IK isn't (they just handle their products and aren't following the details of what we're doing as a dealer bundling their MIC promo with our ReTank loops).
The ReTank loops are sounds in SampleTank format and you need SampleTank 2.5 L to play them. Once you get your SampleTank 2.5 L serial from esoundz (Also in your member's area) you take that and go to www.ikmultimedia.com and follow the instructions Allen sent everyone via email.
You download and authorize your SampleTank 2.5 L software and then you drag all of your ReTank loop folders (after they are unzipped) into the "ST2.5 Instruments" folder (where the sounds of ST2.5 L are basically - or you can opt to "point" SampleTank directly to wherever you have your ReTank loops if you prefer... please read the SampleTank manual on how to do those things or just ask and there are plenty of people in the SR forum that would help you).
Then the ReTank loops can be loaded within SampleTank and away you go! Have fun! To use the midi files that correspond to each loop you would load the loop and then go into the ReTank folders that have the sounds and the midi file, .mid file, is right next to the sound files (sound files are .sti, .sth and .stw). So you bring that .mid file into your sequencer and set it to the same channel as the loop and it will play it! Manipulate from there!!!!! At the beginning of the loop name there is the intended original tempo but of course you have the flexibility to try any tempo you want. Quantize it, replay the slices, change the feel, tweak each slice with zone editing as I described... it's pretty powerful once you get into it! Or you can simply play thousands of loops as is. Either way, it can be inspiring and quick to create music with. Good luck!

The ReTank loops are in the three zip files that you downloaded from eSoundz.
The "ReTank loop station" is SampleTank 2L. You can follow the steps I described below to get ST2L and your additional products from IKMM.
When you have installed ST2L and its Sounds Library, and authorised ST2L, move the ReTank loops into a folder in your ST2L Sounds Library, open ST2L, click [Relist] on the right-hand side to show the Retank loops inside ST2L.
Using the ReTank Loops
[Reverend Rhythm]wichi850262 wrote:I thought it would be easier to get tracks down with ReTank, I must admit. The loops are around 5 seconds long (the ones I've tried already), but is there a way of making the loop repeat itself, so that I don't have to copy and paste it each time and connect it manually? Any other tips you can give a beginner?
Is there a tutorial video on this (apart from the IK's site, because I've seen that)? I need spoon feeding!!
Let me try a step by step. Try it. Once you see how to do it, it'll seem easy.
1. Open SampleTank in your Host. In your host, set the tempo you want to use.
2. Within SampleTank, find the loop you want to use. Use the B1 note to audition the loops. Remember that the "B1" loop is not going to be synced to your host.
3. Open up the folder that contains your ReTank loops. Each sub-folder contains SampleTank files and MIDI files. Find the MIDI file that corresponds to the loop you have chosen. Now, click and drag that MIDI file over to your host. Drop it onto a track, and it should show up. You may need to play with this to see how to do it in your host.
4. Now you need to assign that track to SampleTank. Each Host does that differently.
5. When you get the MIDI track assigned to SampleTank, you should hear the loop played in tempo.
6. In my host, I will need to copy and paste the MIDI file over and over to get the length I want. Your Host may do this differently.

7. If you just want to play along, you can use the markers of your host, set them on start and end of the MIDI and then press the Loop-button of your host (I think most hosts have one).
8. If you use Cubase, try Ctrl+k for multiple paste of a selected part.
the ReTank Group Buy Extra Loops
[Squids, 06 December]
For those that purchased the recent ReTank Group Buy! Your great deal keeps on going... you now have over 1,500 more loops to download in your member's area in "My Downloads". First bonus is over 1,000 more ReTank loops including a world rhythm taste of the ReTank Style Pak "World Grooves" and a variety of other unique sounds.
The second bonus contains over 500 "Groove Elementz" loops! This is Groove Elementz 2. Another set of over 500 Groove Elementz loops are available for purchase or for free to qualifying customers (qualifying customers include the first 100 people to join the ReTank Group Buy, anyone who has purchased SampleTank from esoundz before, select Gold and Platinum members who participated in the ReTank Group Buy and anyone else can get the other set of Groove Elementz for free in the month of December simply by purchasing at least TWO SampleTank libraries from esoundz and asking support (at) esoundz (dot) com for the free Groove Elementz 1!).
Groove Elementz are parts of a beat such as hi hat patterns, kick and snare patterns, misc percussion etc. that can be layered together to create NEW grooves that are a composite of the elements used together. On their own they sound sparce and incomplete so they are able to be used together to construct interesting polyrhythms and full drum kit beats or other creations. You can also add Groove Elementz over other grooves for added percussion effects, more complex patterns... have fun!
Accessing the MIDI Files
DarkStar
To make thing easier, I have split out the MIDI files into a parallel series of folders and put them in a different folder which is eaasily accessible from my host:
-- copy the complete ReTank Loops library,
-- search for all the MIDI files (.mid) in the original Library - delete them,
-- search for all the SampleTank files (.st) in the copied library - delete them,
You'll end up with 2 sets of folders with the same sub-folder structure, one containing the ReTank sounds library, the other containing the MIDI files.
