'Twas the 12th night the year of the CD and the Sinclair Spectrum. And the Yamaha CS-01. And generally one of the first years in the era of mass-market micro-electronics. Let's celebrate that it's exactly, err, 27 years since then! (Just go with the flow here, folks.)

This is a little "back to the roots" project utilizing 19 instances of the Hahaha CS-01 (well, 25 if you consider turning polyphony on as cheating). 9 of them make up a Hahaha Drum Machine.

In addition, there's plenty of Kjaerhus Classic effects (minus the Autofilter, because that would DEFINITELY be cheating!). The only other effects used are 2 mda ring modulators for the hihats/cymbal, and a SimulAnalog Tube Screamer on the lead synth.

Very nice, very 1982. Sounds like a lost Duran Duran instrumental, the one they forgot to include in Rio to top it up (like they had done on the first LP)
Really gotta check this Hahaha synth of yours, sounds (and looks) like yet another more than decent SE creation.
BTW have you thought about making a separate Hahaha drums plugin? Just loved those drums on the track.
Thanks for sharing!

And thank you. :)

Re the CS-80 sound, I think one of my points with the project was that "any old single-osc standard synthedit synth can sound good in the right context, if you just use a lot of FX". And that's pretty much what it is: Standard syntehdit osc, standard filter (IIRC).

However - I was surprised at how good the drums turned out, so a Hahaha DS-01 drum machine might just happen one of these days. ;)

Pretty fast, if I may say so myself... :tu:

Awesome pethu, thank you on all counts. The music made me smile - it sounded like music for the opening scene of an 80's screen gem, all headbands, legwarmers and intense looks with flopped locks. :)
