I've used Cantabile 1.2 on an Emachine running XP for quite a while. I recently upgraded to a Sony Vaio all-in-one J-Series running Vista Home Premium 64.
Cantabile 1.2 works fine on the Vaio. I've not checked every VSTi, but there hasn't been a problem loading any of them that I have tried.
A couple of days ago I downloaded the Cantabile 2 Solo Beta 64 version. It installs without complaint; the keyboard and MIDI player work as before.
But none of the VSTs load either when selected through the menu or via drag and drop.
I get the following error message on each attempt:
VST PLUG [name] Load Library Failed
%1 is not a valid Win32 application
(0x800700c1)
The compatibility mode settings don't make any difference.
Can anyone help narrow down whether it's the new machine, the new software or the new user?
Thanks for your help.

I have no clue but I will monitor this thread as I am interested in 64bit compatibility too...
I guess most plugins are 32 bit, how can these run in a 64bit environment at all?

Hi Rsb,
The 64 bit version of Cantabile requires 64-bit plugins, of which there are very few currently available. It also requires 64-bit audio drivers though I've noticed there's an x64 ASIO4ALL now.
As mentioned on my site somewhere, this makes Cantabile of limited use to most users but is my bit towards breaking the chicken and egg cycle of which comes first - plugins or hosts.
In the mean time, 32bit Cantabile runs fine on 64 bit Vista.
Brad
