I'm serious on that one.

Since I used RM4 up until now, but are about to get C5 which features Groove Agent ONE with similar features than RM4 and RM5 (except for the MIDI Player) - what benefit do I have over getting RM5 now?

Somebody can convince me on the pro's and con's? Budget is always an issue for me and if I can use Groove Agent One instead, why get RM5?

So yeah, shoot away, please (including the devs mayhaps).

I'm afraid I cant help, I almost never look at competition. From my memory Groove Agent was a completely different beast ... someone else ?

I only have GA1, and it always seemed to me like the drum machines built in more expensive home keyboards. Good for quicly recording a basic scetch of an idea, sounds pretty OK, but not adequate to use in a final track. And rather limited, too. One could work around its limitations, but it would be lots of work and sort of defeats the basic concept of quick results.

I can't say about GA2, and I don't know what the GA one can do.

RM5 is a lot deeper, more sounds, more control, ability to do lots of weird tricks, plus it has more and better sounds than GA1 , I expect the same with GA one. It can do anything you want (drum related, that is), but it does require you to work on it. Still quick results are possible with the midi file player and the loop player. For me RM5 is a lot better. I still need to learn to use it with Jamstix, I am not good at drum programming. When I do, I know my drum tracks will sound "pro", you know what I mean?

So just get C5 (you are going to get it anyway, aren't you?), and see if GA one covers your needs.
If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kick-boxing.

Well don't misinterpret Groove Agent (the drum-look machine with acoustic drums) with the new Groove Agent (which is more like an MPC), please. That're two totally different beasts with a misleading name.

According to the videos from Steinberg, I have multiple layers on the pads, individual fiters, a 3 band EQ, etc, etc, etc. And up to 8x12 (or so) pads. It can also load loops and convert into slices (via the inspector of Cubase), choking groups, One-Shot play, so yeah - similar features than RM5 indeed.

I'm a bit on the edge here what to go for. I do have money now, not so anymore starting in March. I did get RM4 because i was sick of that MUON SR-101 (which wa only stereo on one bus) and I never got Battery... but the lines are so thin.

Wish one of the beta-users would chime in and give some feedback on the pro's and con's. But at the moment, it's a money-risk factor for me I'm afraid.

Not to be Capt Obvious, but why don't you just play with Groove Agent once you get Cubase 5 and see if it meets your needs? I have RMV and it is a formidable multi-featured beast so I can easily recommend it as an excellent plugin, but can't compare it to GA. An upgrade from RMV 4 to 5 is only $79 I think, so you could just do that at a later date.
Sorry not much help.

Help enough.
