I've made a free XIOsynth editor for Windows.
It's all about the synth part (not templates).

THANKS, I'll give it a test drive once the coffee kicks in.

well despite the coffee intake, I can't see any preference box for setup and when I move onscreen knobs nothing happens on the Xio. Please give brief instruction on how this editor works or it's limitations. Appreciate your work

More testing of the editor shows at the top some options while it's loading. But I can't do anything or adjust settings while it is loading. When the editor appears the options vanish. Left click anywhere(above, below, on both sides) does nothing. Right clicking allows to re-size the GUI and exit. About option does nothing. Let me know if I am doing something wrong

Well, I finally had some time today to sit down and test this editor... looks great, I love the idea... but it does nothing. Absolutely nothing. Either I don't get it at all, or this is somehow an incomplete file. You can set input and output, tweak some virtual knobs, but that's about it. Xio does not respond to this, clicking on the editor to change patch name does nothing, right-clicking can resize. That's about it.

Sorry, don't give up.
Here are the instructions :
- switch on the Xio first ;
- the editor launches in full screen mode ;
- press F11 or right-click and select close full screen to return in windowed mode ;
- check the Xio in the midi in and midi out menus ;
- both editor and Xio knobs should already responds to each other ;
- on the Xio, button menu Global, page "Dump :", choose "current Sound:", button Write ; the Xio sends the current sound to the editor...
A future version won't launch in full screen mode.
It will add a midi channel selector.
A manual will be put online.
My Xio doesn't reply any sysex request for now, so I can't automate the current Sound Dump within the editor.

Thanks for the instructions. I did have to set the Xio to midi channel one. I sent the current sound to your editor and yes there it was. Things worked/responded well. The only thing that didn't work was while enabling the XGator you could change all parameters but clicking on the Bars/steps and trying to move them up or down didn't work or change while the Xio was being played. If I could get this feature to work it would be a real time saver. I really appreciate this, it makes programing a joy. I could not figure out how to change the Amp envelopes on the Xio, but with the editor I can(along with all the other parameters).
I took a Arp patch and totally changed it to a completely different sound(W/O arp)Pushed the write button and renamed it. Don't feel bad about not being able to send the sysex cuz I can write it on the Xio. BTW a lot of time while using the Xio Template patch librarian it doesn't always work as it should so I have to use midiOx. Keep up the good work.

I tried it with the intructions you gave, and everything except the step seqencer works like a charm. This is really a great addition for every XIO owner, as programming it really was bit of a hassle.
So, if possible, keep up the Great work, and thanks,
JJ

Thank you for your feedbacks.
The first idea was a "put-them-all-on-the-panel", but I can divide functions into menus.
X-Gator graphics just recalls the programmed gates of the sound, without interaction because XioSynth doesn't send or receive any midi message when changing gate levels. I go on searching about it.
I could work on adding a randomize function, with a way for choosing parameters to be affected and a 0% to 100% level of randomization (as I've already done in the blofeld editor).

Alright, I get it now. Good stuff, a real time saver. If you add a randomize button with a % knob/slider, it would be really amazing! Thank you for doing this man.
In fact that should work with X-station as well, right?

YES, it should work with X-Station as well,
but not for some controls :
Distortion output level, Eq bass/mid/treble, Filter shape, all X-Gator parameters, and very few others...
Will anyone test it with X-Station ?

Download from : Xio SD
for "Xio Sound Designer".
You are so killer, THX this! I think you cant edit the the arpeggiator, because it not send midi.. Its made by synth maker, so i dont think you can edit usb commands in this. I meen the arpeggiator options maybe have some usb controllable command, bla bla. Anyway thanks this share, now working with this is much more faster.
One more thing.. How can i record in any DAW the midi out from "xio sd"? I think you just need to render out from synth maker the vst version and this fix the problem.
Thanks your work and go contact with the novation developers, because maybe this thing can grow up for a full standalone/vsti controll stuff:)
BIG BIG THANKS !!!
