Hi,
I did a lot of research looking at Neumann mics searching forums etc and came to the conclusion from everyone's feedback that these 3 are the best for the price (from the Neumann range).
- Neumann M147 - Valve mic. Best mic for vocals apparently. £1,300
- Neumann TLM 49 - Has the sound of a tube mic apparently. £900
- Neumann TLM127 £1,000
I will be mostly using the mics for vocals: female and male, and on acoustic guitar.
Any suggestions on which one would be the best for vocals and acoustic guitar?
Please don't comment by saying test them first because none of my local stores have these mics.

Edit, never mind. Though, I have to ask if you have any local studios or any place that would let you rent them? Most major cities and their surrounding areas have plenty of options there. Even some out-of-the-way areas, at least here in the states, will have these mics for rental.

Hi Jay-Producer,
I know it's not on your list, but you should really consider Microtech Gefell (for many, the "real" Neumann").
Extremely high quality mics. In my direct experience, they are at least as good as the AKG-owned Neumann stuff.
I owned a pair of U87ai (with InnerTube retrofits for both) for years. Terrific mics. I also had a Microtech Gefell UM70s, and it was every bit as good (at half the price).
IMO, MG mics are real sleepers and (while not inexpensive) an outstanding value.
And for what it's worth, I had a mic locker valued at over 30k. As often as not, which mic would win out on acoustic guitar (and may voices)? An Audio-Technica-4033.
Feel free to PM me if you have any more specific questions about the MG.

Well there is a studio next door to me. But im in Auckland just now and haven't come across any places which have these mics. Believe it or not I live within a few steps of NZ largest music store - which by UK standards is pathetic. Plus my im traveling so dont have a full studio with me at the moment.buscemi wrote:Edit, never mind. Though, I have to ask if you have any local studios or any place that would let you rent them? I actually have the Gefell 92s on my list. Would you recommend that? It costs around £3k though so not sure if it is worth the price tag.MickGael wrote:Hi Jay-Producer,
