Q: Drum Masters .nkx files ?

Looking round the Drum Master products, it looks like the samples for the drum kits are stored in (encrypted) .nkx files. Here, these are in the M:\Native Instruments\Kontakt 3 Library\Sonic Reality\Infinite Player\Samples folder. So far, so good.

But I've seen a few other .nkx files, in the Sonic Reality\Infinite Player folder. Not all of the kits are represented here (e.g. there is not one for NDV ST Grtsch Kit). These .nkx files for the kits are small (2,478 KB) and there is also a bigger one for Studio ProFiles Infinite Player_info.nkx.

-- can someone let me know what these files are for?
-- should there be one for every kit (as well as the big one in the /Samples folder)?
-- can I move (or remove) them?

One reason for asking is that they clutter up the Kontakt 3 Browser; also Kontakt 3 thinks that they are folders but cannot open them:

I'll ask about this too:
The Stereo Grooves Samples folders include both .RX2 and .wav files. But I think that the .nki files only reference the RX2 files.
-- what are the .wav files for?
-- can I move (or remove) them?

The support guys at SR can answer this more specifically during business hours. But, the info.nkx folder is needed because that stores the "Skins" - the graphics. The other smaller files may also be doing that as well but ask Mike, Ryan or Allen on Monday - or send Allen an email about it and he'll find out more specifically (I will try to point them to this thread too).

But, in terms of cluttering up your Kontakt Browser, why would you be browsing the samples anyway? Wouldn't you just be browsing Instruments and Multis? Keep the samples folder closed?

Regarding the Waves, they were initially in there because it was going to be encrypted into an NKX referencing both - in case the Rexes didn't sound as good. But as it turned out the Rexes work GREAT in Kontakt so we didn't feel it was necessary to reference the waves. We kept them in there in case someone wanted them though since they were there already. However, you can take them out and save yourself some space. I recently did this on my version that's installed on an iMac that has limited HD space. Good idea. The Rexes take up less space anyway.

OK, I'll raise a Support Ticket later.

Yep, I would be going to Instruments or Multis but some of the .nkx are in the Infinite Player folder, as in the screenshot. They were the ones I meant.

Thanks,Squids, for the info. :)

Yeah, that doesn't look right at all. You'll have to troubleshoot with support how it got that way. We may have to ask NI about it if there's something with K3, perhaps a bug or something. We'll look into this on Monday.
