Dark Ambient/Black Metal track from vespers for Justin 3AM

3AM..Justin, whom most everyone here knows, has been going through some rough times as of late. He is a great friend and talented guy, and a few of us have made some tracks this week dedicated to him. This one is mine:
the devil's hour
6 min 49 sec, 128 kbps mp3
http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/11/ ... 20Hour.mp3
The devil's hour is the hour of 3AM in European folklore.
Be warned though: halfway into the track, the dark ambient stuff breaks into cold black metal.
cheers,
V

Thanks Jazzy! Yes, I played all the instruments/vocals (aside from the drums, which were programmed samples and loops though).Jazzyspoon wrote:Truly huge sound. Epic vibe. Were you on all the instruments? The short ecstatic moment at 5:40ish is totally choice. Good work.
Hopefully Brittainy will be able to get the songs we did to Justin, and I hope things go well for him soon.

I'm working on something too on this subject (though I have no shortage of remixes and collabs with him to share) If there's going to be a collection made for him over at VS, can you share it over there for me?

Nicely done!! Superb buzzing guitar tone...and beautiful depressing harmonies on the guitars..
and I agree that the short 'ejaculation' around 5:40 is f*^&in' great.
I enjoyed both moods very much.
Do you you have a website (or other means) with more songs?

Sure man, though it might be best to message shamman(SIGHUP) as he's the head honcho there at the moment, and could likely help you out better than I. He organized this along with the idea from robojam I believe. I think all of the tracks will be collectively made available here too by the end of the weekend.Jazzyspoon wrote:I'm working on something too on this subject (though I have no shortage of remixes and collabs with him to share) If there's going to be a collection made for him over at VS, can you share it over there for me?

However, I have a collaboration project with Jack Solium from here called The Afterlife Conspiracy of which we'll have a 4 song EP available sometime around the end of March. It too will be a blend of experimental black metal and dark ambient atmosphere.

Thanks mtilli. The clash of styles was quite intentional really, as I wanted the black metal aspect to come crashing in when least expected. I like and work in both genres, and I like alot of artists that merge them...like Spektr, Blut Aus Nord, Xasthur, etc.mtilli wrote:Nice track, especially that guitar lead caught my ear.But maybe this would have worked even better as two separate songs since parts are so different in style.

As I commented elsewhere, this is hands down my favorite thing you've done.
The two elements work best as a whole for me, but that's probably due to the fact I've got the same predilection for stuff like Deathspell Omega.
Can't wait to hear what you and Jack have in store for us!

A top notch track vespers, is always nice to hear fresh content in a monotone and practically dead sub-genre.
You can be BIG in the scene vespers, have you ever thought of presenting your material at the Metal Archives forum?

If I had to describe the stuff Jack and I have done, it's similar to what I did here in some ways, but its much more experimental in sound.

Is the forum of the Encyclopaedia Metallum, http://www.metal-archives.com/board/ there you go. Just a warning though... the forum is full of black metal "kvlt" elitists, so be sure to wear your anti-crap helmet.vespers75 wrote: Metal Archives forum? I'm not even aware of it.![]()
