Midirouting for Multimodeplugins

I have a question about the right settings for Multimode VSTis like Sampletank and Hypersonic. These VSTis have 16 channels for loading presets.
My Midikeyboard send on Midichannel 1. Now I'm looking for a way to route this Channel to multiple channels of my VSTi.
For Example:
Ch.1 (C2-C3) > VSTi Ch.1 (Piano)
(D3-C4) > VSTi Ch.2 (Strings)
Or:
Ch.1 (E0-C5) > VSTi Ch.1 (Piano)
(E0-C5) > VSTi Ch.2 (Strings)
(E0-C5) > VSTi Ch.3 (PAD)
(D5-C7) > VSTi Ch.4 (Solo Lead)
I tried some things but can't get it to work. I would like to do this in the rack where my plugin is loaded in.

You can sort of do this with the keyboard split MIDI filter, but it's a bit convoluted and the next build has a slightly better approach so I'll describe that instead.
In the next build there is a new MIDI filter item called "Keyboard Range" which is similar to "Keyboard Split" but instead of splitting at one point on the keyobard, filters a single range. Notes within the specified range can be remapped to another channel and/or the notes outside the range suppressed. It's intended to be used in one of two ways.
1. Suppose you have a series of VSTi's in a rack in series each with MIDI passthrough turned on (eg: all are getting the full stream of incoming MIDI). By adding a keyboard range filter to each plugin and saying to suppress notes outside that range, each VSTi can respond to a different keyboard range.
2. The scenario you've described above where you have one VSTi that you want to send different keyboard ranges to different channels. In this case you'd create a number of keyboard range filters on the plugin and remap each range to a new channel number.
Here's how it looks:

As mentioned this is in the next build which should be out today/tomorrow depending on how quickly I can iron out one other bug.

Hi Brad.
Interesting that you seem not having forgotten some of my early suggestions...
This filter would be perfect if it would have a velocity range too, what I would call a "zone", limiting a key and velocity range at the same time.
That would allow cool things spotting just one filter, like adding an orchestral hit when hitting the keys hard while you could play a basic sound with softer touch...

The fastest way to get notifications of new builds is with Cantabile's own update checking: click the build number in the top right corner and click "Check for Updates" to manually check, or click automatic to have Cantabile check once per day.Bono Best wrote:Hey Brad,

+1 for the velocity zones!
That would be a very useful filter.

This is almost too quick to be true!
I have been using Brad and Cantabile as an example of how customer support should work and on some forums people think that I just exaggerate things.
This filter alone would be a major number update in some other hosts.
Brad - you are unbelievable!

Hi,
The customer support surely is unbeatable!
Just wondering if this could be achieved, maybe with the Velocity Gate?:
1) I often play PIANO + STRINGS, but have noticed that the Strings usually sound a lot louder as I go up the keyboard, and go really quiet as I go down the keyboard. To me this is very annoying! I would like to be able to alter that somehow.
2) This same "solution" would allow an instrument to gradually turn into another instrument as you move along the keyboard.
Any chances? Thanks. Alex.

Hey Folks, don't stress Brad too much...
But I agree, best feedback I've ever experienced too, that's something I'm not tiered of repeating...
I didn't suggest any fading filter yet because that's an endless topic...
You could not only demand fading curves over a key range but with velocity points itself too, just to cross fade one sound into another on a single key, not simply switch...
I guess that needs more thoughts... and usually such things might be adjusted in the synths which often provide ecactly such curves.

It's a separate thing but as with all MIDI filters you can put these in series to get the combined effect.TiUser wrote:Is this a part of the key range filter now or is it a separate thing?
