"... is achieved when you simply cannot add anything more."

Karl-Elvis de Saint Exupéry, 1939, Great Principles of Life

Just thought I'd post a famous quote by Antoine de Saint Exupéry's not-so-famous half-cousin's wife's brother, who aspired all his life to be recognized as a deep thinker.

Words to live by for us musicians?

I prefer the other end, perfection is achieved when you simply cannot take anything more away.

Agreed...there is sometimes a certain beauty in minimalist simplicity.

Even then, for me, I think the same principle applies. With plugins, I went through a phase of getting as much as I could. But at a certain point, I started unloading anything I didn't use or felt was covered well by something else. An example, a few months after I got Kombinat, I started deleting a whole bunch of distortion effects I felt were made redundant and no longer used.

With studio gear, I'm currently in the additive stage, but at some point I know I'll be satisfied to the point of slimming down the inventory.

I think he means a happy human. Never known or known of a happy perfectionist.
