I have submitted a request with IK, but thought someone here may be able to help too.
I am reinstalling all my stuff on a newish AMD Athlon 64 (but 32 bit)Vista machine.
I have a problem with Amplitude 2 and T Racks 3 from the group buy a while ago.
I have finally authorized both, and I thought all was good but they don't want to run in Sonar 6. I get a registry error.
It appears that by right clicking (under programs) and choosing "run as administrator" they will open in standalone mode, although I haven't run any sound through them yet.
Sonar wanted to disable them when it ran the vst scanner on startup.
Below is a copy of the error message. Any advice appreciated.

If you right click the .exe file (or the shortcut to the exe file), click on Properties, click on the Compatibility Tab, then you will see an option to "Run this Program as Administrator." Check the box, and click on "OK".

You can do this for the Sonar .exe and for the TRAcks and Amplitude .exe files.

That MIGHT solve you problem. Vista is very particular about the privilege level for executable files, and if a program calls another wihtout "running as an administrator", it can cause problems.

Anyway, it's worth a shot, and takes just a few clicks.

No problem. Just for the record, you don't have to uninstall to try the above. If they're already installd, simply find the .exe files that run them in standalone and change them to run as adminitrators.

Then, run Sonar as an admin (or change it as above to run it this way all the time), and that might solve your problem.

I had a simiar issue with Sonik Synth (whch was the firs I installed and ran in Vista) until I changed it to always run as admin.

Thanks again - I thought I had to uninstall, which I have just done again :)

One interesting thing is that I have issues with Sampletank too, and Sonar wants to disable it, basically telling me that Set Sample Rate is the reason.

Edit:
I have downloaded Sampletank 2.5.2 from IK.
Is that a standalone install or do I have to install above the original installer from disc?
I'm unsure.
I'm also considering wiping Vista and getting a full XP version. This is driving me nuts.

I have all these plugins running on Vista with no problem, they used to work on Sonar 6 & 7 without any problem (I have now returned to Cubase).

The one you downloaded from IK's website should be the only program you'll need to install. AFAIK, you do NOT have to install the one on the disc and then the new one.

You will have to load the sound library after you install the program (the library should be on a separate disk or disks).

Before changing operating systems, I'd give it a little more time (although I agree this sort of stuff is really aggravating).
