looking for a soft synth to get the sound of the synth at the beginning of "sweet dreams" by the eurhymics from the 1980s.anybody got a synth or patch suggestion for this?

Post

It's a saw wave with a short attack and a little low pass. Any virtual analog synth can do that.

PolyIblit might work for folks who don't have an sh02 laying around.

Double the saw with another PWM bass, I think.

The original track is a panning mix with a Roland SH-2 in one channel (punchy, panned left) and a Juno-60 in the other (stringy, panned right).

I think the unstable strings in the song are much more interesting. (01:33).

Second attempt... different synth.

TAL-Bassline and TAL-Uno-62 might be close enough (bassline models an sh-101, but I'm not aware of any sh-02 modelers...)

6 posts down gives an example of tal uno playing seet dreams.

I believe you should have some random "error" in the tune of oscillators to achieve the sound. That's pretty easy with SynthMaster 2.0
Works at KV331 Audio
SynthMaster voted #1 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll
SynthMaster One voted #4 in MusicRadar's "Best Synth of 2019" poll
