Hey folks, I need to send some presets to a friend that uses Ableton Live, but since Cubase 4 there is no longer FXP/FXB export.

Is there a way to get this functionality back or to convert VST3 presets back to FXP for sharing?

The free FXTractor converts vstpreset files to fxp/fxb.

How can I export or record .fxp files to WAV or MP3? Or is it possible at all?

You can't. .fxp files aren't audio, they are presets for plug-ins. Not even the same kind of thing at all.

So... they aren't useable at all in making samples and such

are there any good free software synths at all? :S

Thank you. Great find, that is exactly what I needed.

I never understood why Steinberg removed the support for preset exchange with other users in their products. I guess this happens if you let marketing people choose the feature set and not working musicians.

Now that Nuendo 5 has been released: Does anybody know if this has been solved with the latest version? Is there hope for Cubase 5.5?

Hmm, neither N5 nor C5.5 has FXP or FXB export. That is to sad, especially since we are talking about the inventor of the VST specs here.

Maybe thats the reason for their arrogance with vst3.
