If I ever become a master burgler, this is my first stop.

Of everything I saw, I think I'm most interested in the Balwin Electric Harpsichord. Don't know what I would do with it, but it sounds so cool!

Yeah, I sampled a Baldwin Electric Harpsichord years ago. I think it was Roger Manning's. I forget whose it was. But then I lost those samples!!!!! It was really annoying that I lost them and when I got the chance to buy one I jumped on it because they're REALLY rare. I think there's only a few hundred or less of them in the world. I am surprised at how much I LOVE the real thing. Samples are cool too. It needs a little work and we'll sample it. No worries. A lot of the stuff you see in these videos still have to be sampled (like the Lowreys etc. we also have the LSO-1 which was used on Lucy In the Sky and more stuff not even shown.)

Anyway, how do you think we're able to sample everything? First you find it. Then extract its goodness and make it available to you! That's our mission.

these were some cool clips. i toured the audio playground synth museum in winter park, which was really informative, but hearing some of the patches played always takes it up a notch. thanks.

Dave-
Amazing collection. It's great to see all the synths that I recall reading about in the liner notes of my favorite records back in the day.

It's really funny to hear the Keyboard Mag geeks practically wetting themselves as you describe all these goodies. :hihi:

And nice working in the Infinite Player plug!

So many plugins, so little time...

Thanks Berf. This studio is only a year old. We partnered up with another studio (who owns that SSL and some other things there). Definitely some cool pieces to restore and sample. The drum rooms there sound amazing but I still find myself recording at the studios where the engineers we work with want to go. I'm all for that because I like the variety of room sounds for samples in the Drum Masters series. But, drum sampling at the new SR studio does sound fantastic! Oh and yes other instruments too! No worries. We do still sample everything... as you can see in the video.

A bit of a chore to maintain. One of the things I'm sampling soon is the Helpinstill pick up on that Kawai Baby Grand where you can mix the pick up sound and blend with the mics (KM56 mics - something I learned from Ken). That will be a really cool sound because the Helpinstill is dry and compressed sounding like an electric grand but has that "bite" while the open air of the mics pick up the harp resonance and sympathetic vibrations of the piano. So it's a unique cool sound you can get between the two. I used that sound on two of the tracks I recorded with this new band project and it was great in musical context as well as solo. Kind of a Sigur Ros sort of piano sound. We have an amazing piano collection in the works for Infinite Player. Mind blowing really.
