We're in the betatesting stage of an additive synthesizer that's dedicated to do subtractive synthesis. By this I mean there's nothing analog-modelled inside, everything is "fake", the filters/resonance/phaser/etc are pre-synthesis, & the goal was to achieve sounds that you'd believe made using traditional subtractive (of course that wasn't the whole point, the idea was to offer more control than with traditional subtractive).
So, the question is has anyone else done this convincingly? I've checked the existing additive synthesizer and it didn't look like, but I may be wrong.
I'm asking since it'd be dumb to claim it's new if it's not.
Again I'm not talking about waveshapes synthesized by additive to be filtered by classic IIR filters, I know that already exists.
Thanks.

Morphine is somewhat along those lines -- no subtractive filters stage. Its spectral filters don't mimic classic subtractive ones, however.

I know it's dumb that I don't know Morphine in depth (since we're selling it), but I'm missing its filter. Are you talking about the one on the noise generator?

I was referring to Morphine's "PWM Filter" -- produces comb filter effects rather than classic subtractive filtering effects.
I suppose Cameleon's and Alchemy's formant filters are actually closer to what you're talking about; they can easily be set up to mimic subtractive LPF/BPF/HPF behaviors (among other things), and they can be modulated dynamically. These filters are calculated spectrally. Of course both of these instruments have a more conventional subtractive stage, too.

I see.
Alchemy looks like it would do it, it synthesizes enough partials as I can see.
