Hi all this is a new product for ABG Called GhettoBass. It will be released as will all the up coming rack FX as part of the "Nice Rack Baby"..Effects suite...(That is also part of G-SPOT.)

CPU Is a little high for an effect but usable in a pinch, this will have to be dealt with though. There is also a small latency introduced with it, may or may not be useable, depending on your machine... your call, but thats why its a beta right?

Something to remember too, All pitch shift effects have latency issues..How drastic they are is what is in question..

Here it is..

Hi Ken,

Tested this one. It'll be useful...for something. For emulating bass, I'm not so sure. I got really inconstant volume fluctuations at the slightest change of pick intensity. I decided to try fingers. Same thing. I ended up putting a brickwall lim. infront of it, and ran a hot-ish signal into the lim, so the signal going into GettoBass was more consistent. That helped, but it all seemed too quiet. Went to the input vol, saw it was low, and immediately when you push the volume up, it starts going a little haywire. Sound gets compressed and slightly to heavily distorted. Tried to lower the volume/output from the limiter, not much difference, seems like the volume curve on that knob is VERY sesitive, and ramps up too steep too quickly.

As for the playing side, sound wise it's ok, (when played VERY quietly....unusable for tracks though). The latency is much better than what I've seen in any other attempts of this nature, paid or freeware, but it's still at a point where I couldn't actually play along with the demo track I did for Shred, cause it was just that little bit too far out sync with everything else. (My audio buffer didn't contribute much to this, as it's as low as a snake's belly is close to the ground).

I'll test the other releases tomorrow. Hope the feedback helps :)

George

Yep and if you get a chance Georg, Can you run this again without the Limiter and with the input volume UP...I actually have processing in there to emulate the attack of Bass Strings.

(I know attack with Latency...WTF?)

Thanks

GB's turn.

I like it. The CPU is a bit heavy, and the latency is only just acceptable but I am a sucker for this. I have no idea what I would use it for in practice but as a toy it is immense!
It definitely sounds better when pushed harder, although to be honest it doesn't sound much like an electric Bass - is it supposed to?
As a kind of super detuned chorus it rocks and it sure adds meat to a thinnish guitar.

Yeah I got to get those oscillations running faster somehow?

Apologies if this is being asked and answered in another thread, but what will be the difference between SHRED and G-SPOT. I have a beta version of G-SPOT from back in early November, then I saw the announcement of SHREAD and thought you were abandoning G-SPOT. But here I see it mentioned again. Are both going to be new ABG offerings and will G-SPOT be going through a public beta as well?

Post

Shred was created as a result if an opportunity for us to provide the new Guitar Amp Simulator for Acoustica Mixcraft. Never one to squander opportunity we built Shred. Having now built a simple suite for it, and speaking with others around ABG it was decided that we should hold onto Shred and keep it as an ABG product.

Shred filled a gap in our product lines in terms of a simple easy to use plug and go type of suite. All other products were a little more complicated in terms of use.
So...

G-SPOT/B-SPOT (may be delivered with upwards of 110 head designs) FX and Cabs Included.
Tweaker suite

FrankenAMP(Preampus Heads)
Selected already built Preampus components, some minor tweaking available,
NO FX, We may include FrankenCAB as well

Shred
Simple to use, plug in and play 25 selectable "ISH" heads..FX and Cabs Included

I announced that we were dropping all future research into amp modeling and will be moving into a more diverse product line, it seems that we have not, when in fact we have been staying the course. Its just that we were given an opportunity and rose to the occasion, thats why ABG is creating a new product after that announcement.

We have come a long way with G-SPOT since those early betas. We are now getting very close to a public beta of it as well. FrankenAMP is also coming along nicely, but before we build that we will be performing all the fixes on our existing release freeware plugin library.

Hope that helps..

Thank you for the detailed clarification. I very much look forward to the public beta of G-SPOT (and bacially everything else ABG has to offer....I'm playing with the reverb beta right now as well).

As a little pat on the back to you, I've demoed just about every commercial guitar rig out there, and I keep going back to ABG products. I'm using DIG for the most part and just can't wait for G-SPOT.

Just know that you have at least one dedicated user, and I'm sure many, many more.

Thanks man, have you used Shred yet? and if so, do you still prefer DIG to Shred? I am a little hard on DIG because I know how much more involved literally every other head we have is. But sometimes its not the complexities that are the best, sometimes the simple stuff is better for some people.

In the last 2 weeks I have gotten 6 emails suggesting things like I skip DIG 2.5 and just jump to DIG 3.0, or Rename Shred The real DIG...Which it was a template for, simply look at the Preset screen and compare it to DIG 2.0. Essentially though there is no DIG 2.0 other than the preset screen left.

What are your thoughts?

I have been playing with Shred since the first day of your public beta (haven't gotten the newest release yet, but will in a few hours). I much perfer Shred/G-SPOT to DIG and would not recommend you deviate from your current course of development, in my opinion, anyway. DIG is a great product and I'd be happy with it forever, except now I've used Shred and won't go back. I think there is such an evolution in your products that the knowledge and experience ABG is gaining over the past six months is very apparent

I'm going to post some comments on the Shread thread later this afternoon when I'm in front of my recording computer so I can give you more detailed comments.

I'm counting the days till the G-SPOT public beta.....
