Files not showing up in explorer (Drumaxx?)

Since installing and registering Drumaxx (although it may be a coincidence), my project files save with a lock icon, and can't be seen in explorer. Any solution?

I don't really see any way for Drumaxx to influence this. And I've never seen that lock icon before either.
Do you see anything out of the ordinary if you look at the file's properties (right-click > Properties)?

Windows 7?
Found this:
"I currently use Windows 7 Professional and the Lock Icon appears on some files when I move them around from Desktop to folders on my C Drive (such as C:\Media). Essentially what I found is that the files are not shared outside of the Administrator access (you) so if anyone else logs into the computer and tries to access those files (with the lock icon) they will be prompted by UAC for credentials to continue. This is a general security measure and I'm not entirely sure if it is due to BitLocker or if it is built into Windows 7 (though I am leaning toward the latter)."
Here's more information:

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. Looks to be a related issue, although these are only files I have saved from FLStudio to C drive. They show up with the lock icon using the file browser in FLS, but they're invisible from explorer.
They do show different properties windows, but the information is the same. Permission can't be changed because when I try, system can't locate the files.

Does it happen if you save them anywhere else?
And what if you save a file from another application to the same location (set FL's browser to show all files)?

I saved the file to another drive and it showed in Explorer. No lock icon appeared from within FLS.
I keep getting this error message when I try to load the project. But only sometimes.
Sometimes I have to use task manager to exit FLS and sometimes I have been able to hit can about a hundred times and the project loads (although in this situation there is an extra FLS window showing on the taskbar, just a blank window though)
I tried saving from EnergyXT and the same problem as above occurs. File is not visible in explorer. I guess it is a coincidence but this only started when I installed and registered Drumaxx. I know this because I was working on the project without any of these problems. After installing Drumaxx I simply loaded it into the project, selected the first preset, and saved the project. The file was immediately locked and this problem began.

What folder are you saving to, exactly?
It sounds like the file/folder permissions got messed up.

Not sure how they would get messed up.

Hm, by default folders in Program Files can't be written to if you have UAC (user account control) on in Windows. Our installers adjust permissions for the folders they create, but that doesn't include the Image-Line folder.
So your song folder probably just can't be written to or read from by you (could be either one).
I strongly suggest using a folder in a different location, because access to Program Files will only be made more difficult by MS as time goes by.

Fair enough. But why do youthink this has suddenly happened, after installing Drumaxx, and only on the one folder? Plus I can't change the permissions.reflex wrote:Hm, by default folders in Program Files can't be written to if you have UAC (user account control) on in Windows. I think you have to turn UAC off to change the permissions, even as an administrator.
But I have no idea why Drumaxx would influence this.

Despite me saving the files here (C:\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\My FLS Songs ), they were actually saving here:
C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\My FLS Songs
If I changed the FLS.exe to run as administrator will it fix this. I would rather another way as this means extra clicks every time I start FLS because of UAC. A similar thing happens with Amplitube standalone whereby any files I save within the standalone version end up within C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\VirtualStore......

It's something Windows does when UAC is on, it uses "virtual folders" for some locations, which means it actually saves things elsewhere.
You're best off not putting things in Program Files when possible.

So the solution is to install programs to the Programs Folder. But all saved files and working files should be elsewhere.

That or turn UAC off. But that's up to you.morelia wrote:So the solution is to install programs to the Programs Folder. But all saved files and working files should be elsewhere.
