assign controller per sub-session.

Hi. I'm using Cantabile Performer on a thinkpad w CME UF80 as keyboard/controller.

In a session with 2 racks each hosting a diff VSTi (organ & piano) I've used the plug-in bypass button to make 2 sub-sessions, one for each instrument. So far so good.

I've then used midictrl assignment in each sub-session to let the slider on my keyboard control rack gain. I'd like the bypassed plug-in to be unaffected by moving the controller.

In the assign midi window I checked the 'let subsession enable/disable this assignment' checkbox thinking that rack gain on the bypassed plug-in would be unaffected by controller changes. This doesn't work, the gain on the bypassed plug-in is affected.

* Should I use the rack bypass instead?
* Or create a midi routing table for each rack using 'target device' & then enable corresponding to rack?
* Or is there something I'm overlooking?

I've read the manual, of course. Still, I'd love a bit of assistance, dearly.

I've tried to recreate your scenario and have the same difficulties.

The subsession control check mark seems to affect nothing. Confusing to me: I can't set the context to subsession which I would have expected here...

Maybe the manual explains more... let me see... I just remember that this was a hot discussed topic some time ago...

Note the checkboxes on the left, one for each controller assignment. When checking/unchecking for each subsession (remember to save!) it works as expected. Nice!

Its a bit of a convoluted process, though. Setting up a session with 3 racks/subsessions and a cpl of parameters each requires a lot of mouseclicking. A wizard and/or option to make assignments work exclusively for a subsession would make it feasible to make last minute tweaks before gigging.

Thanks for re-posting the link into the blog - that's what I meant.

That's what I tried - just the context in the last column is a bit odd to set up. But now I got my example working too.
