EXS24 Novachord now available....

As an Easter treat, Hollow Sun's unique Novachord library is now available in EXS24 format.

It's at a different price point too at just $90.

Let me explain...

The EXS24 Novachord library features the same sample set as the Kontakt version but because of Kontakt's very flexible modular structure and scripting, we can add the extra filters, the scripting and the custom control panel and we can add the various combinations of complementary effects which are, in some ways, an intrinsic part of some the Kontakt program variations. This is not possible with EXS24 of course. As such, it has not been possible to coax the same breadth of program variations out of the EXS24 as we have with the Kontakt version.

That said, EXS24's own architecture is very flexible in its way and has features that Kontakt doesn't have so we have been able to coax a slightly different range of sounds out of this collection, just not so many of them (60 vs 120).

However, much of Kontakt's flexibility can be rebuilt in Logic by adding complementary insert effects such as EQ, chorus, delay, reverb and amp sims, etc., but these can't be stored as part of a patch, only as a project.

It's kind of irrelevant because the unique character of the Novachord shines through whatever you do with the sounds but we thought that as the EXS24 version comes with less in the way of sounds, it is only fair to reflect that in the price.

It has not been a trivial task to port this over to the Logic platform because of the differences between the two platforms but I am grateful to all my elves around the world who have busied themselves testing this.

I hope this brings the magnificent sound of a 70 year old valve/tube - arguably THE original 'vintage' analogue - synth to an even wider audience.
