The Hollow Sun Novachord is now available as a Reason Refill.

It comes courtesy of Reason meastro, Matt Black, who has done an astonishing job on this. The Hammond Novachord Refill for Reason & Record is structured into the following folders:

• Classic Novachord
Here you will find the classic tones of the Refill, in Combinator format

• Esoteric Novachord
This folder contains Combinator patches with a modern twist, including layers, splits and FX

• FX Patches
Subfolders for all the FX modules used in the Combinators: Line 6 USB Pod Farm, Reverb, Scream, Thor Modulation Matrixes and Combinator FX

• NNXT Patches
All the tones saved in *.sxt format, plus additional subtle variants

• Novachord Amped [R+R]
Combinator patches with Line 6 amp tones for Pod Farm.

• Samples
24-bit, 44khz samples.

It sells for £50 / €60 / $80

I was wondering why the refill for the Novachord is $80, but the Kontakt one is $120? Could you please explain the difference between the two?

Post

Well, because that's the way I chose to price it!

Apart from that, however, I feel that the Kontakt version with its modular architecture is the best representation of the Novachord with the filters I inserted (which go some way to represent the resonators on the actual Novachord) and the other things (like multi-effects) we used (on a patch-by-patch basis) to carefully recreate the unique textures the Nova is well known for from the old 40s and 50s movies and the extra programs (120 compared with half that in the other libs), etc., etc., warrant the extra.

The Refill (and the EXS24 ... and the forthcoming Akai S5000 and Fusion versions) represent the Novachord very well well but I feel that the Kontakt version has the edge as the 'flagship' version

Cheers,

Steve
