Hello,

I first would like to thank everyone for your help. I am total noob to music theory and here is my question.

I am currently working on a remix for a dance track. It is on D Minor, both the original and the acapella I got. So, I figured D is the root key, ok. Now, my biggest issue is to fit the notes to the vocals. I wrote my bass in D and it changes notes from D > A# > G > C. I am now stuck trying to write a good melody or chord progression to the vocal, because I am not sure when and how it changes notes.

What tools can I use to assist me in this process? I have a book of all Piano chords, will only D chords work? Or what chords will sound good with D Minor?

I am not looking for an easy way out or a tool to do the work for me. I am just confused as to what my chord/note compatibility is. I want to know what my options are chord wise and how I can determine to how I will change my notes as the vocal changes.

THANK YOU!
