Upright Bass with Kontakt

Hi

I have just heard the upright bass demo - it sounds great.

I currently use Logic 8's EXS24 MK2 sampler which accepts SoundFont 2 samples - so I assume the upright will work in this.

However, I noticed that the upright bass has better functionality with Kontakt. So I checked out the NI website and discovered that I can download Kontakt Player 4 for free. I really don't want to buy the full Kontakt as I have no use for 43 GB of samples; I just want a better upright bass sound than Logic provides!

So, my question is - will the upright bass work with the free Kontakt Player 4?

Alternatively, is there a work around (such as running two instances of EXS) that will allow me to combine the two soundsets?

The free Kontakt versions will allow you to use them for 15 - 30 minutes before the Kontakt player times out and you have to reload it.

You should be able to use 2 instances of your logic sampler and load the mic and direct Upright bass samples into them. Then assign each to the same channel and you should be able to play both sets layered. I'm not familiar with the logic sampler, but maybe even one instance of the sampler might allow you to layer sets. You'll have to check that. Once you purchase, I'll send you both Kontakt and SF2 versions so you can try different methods.
