Say if I wanted to make basslines that sounded like Rammstein, Avenged Sevenfold, just random modern metal bass sounds.
I'm thinking of buying Trilogy. Any suggestions?

Trilogy? Do you mean trilian?
I don't know if it's exactly what you are looking for but there is a "hard core" bass that is pretty killer. Have you seen the videos?

Trilogy is fantastic. I use it all the time for basslines. You can't go wrong with any Spectrasonics plug.

Trilogy is the older version. Accidentally posted in the wrong forum, but w/e.
What kind of FX can be combined with trilogy to get a realistic modern bass sound?

It has its own FX. You can put any other FX you have afterwards.

I've gotten good realistic results with ManyBass.

Trilogy doesnt have any FX. Better get Trilian-thats the new bass instrument from Spectrasonics. Lots of great sounding basses and a big selection of effects, filters and whatnot. Manybass doesnt even come close.

Well considering that Trillian costs a 100$ more. It better!!!Dr.Wu wrote:Trilogy doesnt have any FX. Better get Trilian-thats the new bass instrument from Spectrasonics. Lots of great sounding basses and a big selection of effects, filters and whatnot. Manybass doesnt even come close.
But as I said before. I get excelent realistic results from MB and never used any Spectrasonics instruments so it's up to how much the OP has to spend

its all relative isnt it?
You dont know what you are missing because for 100$ more you get about 15 times as much material and an engine that does so much more with the included samples than any other bass instrument on the market.

Whatever rocks your boat.
I just recomended a very good instrument that sounds like a real bass guitar and does it without extra stuff I won't need or use. That's all

Indeed if you meant Trilian the Hardcore bass samples but also some of the other Studio basses can get you there quickly.Streak2010 wrote:Say if I wanted to make basslines that sounded like Rammstein, Avenged Sevenfold, just random modern metal bass sounds.

There are a couple of preset multis too that give you good results immediately.
However the included older Trilogy samples are good for this too. So I guess even Trilogy would do a good job but Trilian is where the real goodness starts.

And the loading time issues and the CPU hit and the . . .Lux Delux wrote:Indeed if you meant Trilian the Hardcore bass samples but also some of the other Studio basses can get you there quickly.Streak2010 wrote:Say if I wanted to make basslines that sounded like Rammstein, Avenged Sevenfold, just random modern metal bass sounds.

STEAM Spectra plugs I actually find more CPU friendly than for example Kontakt itself.
Recently I opened an empty project and loaded up 20 empty Omnisphere instances and after that I tried 20 Kontakt 4 instances and found Kontakt to be more intensive for some reason.
For playing bass samples I don't think Trilian would be a CPU hog taking in mind a lot of the effects included in patches. Turn those off and no prob.
As for the loading I agree it gets tiresome, a Kontakt 4.1 background processing would be awesome. But don't forget to turn off unnecessary notes etc. from the sample loading in case you don't use them in the song

I'd love that. Kontakt is 100,000 times more useful now than before. I think if you have to start limiting the amount of notes that a plugin can play, or turn off FX etc . . . that's not good. It's a way of getting around things but Native Instruments have proved that there is a better way. All these developers have to do is get their thinking caps on. The solutions are there at the source. Take for example Line-6. They have some crappy Windows 7 drivers. many of their 'solutions' involve turning a lot of stuff off on your Computer/Laptop and the use of 3rd Party ASIO Drivers etc. Pathetic really!Lux Delux wrote: a Kontakt 4.1 background processing would be awesome.
