Also doesn't run any of the applications most users would want, and isn't powerful enough for the demands that most people actually have.Kriminal wrote:exactly, its not restricted in any way to some stupid fat americans money grabbing 'rules'
I doubt it makes much difference, as it's not competition - it's only the media, and people who feel the need to hate, that find these 'issues'.Kriminal wrote:wont get off the ground of course, A***e will make sure of that, have no doubt.
It's not generally the technology or the companies that build the products, or even the companies that file law suits, that determine what succeeds and what doesn't... it's the mass market. Corporations are definitely capitalists with few morals, interested solely in the profits of themselves and their shareholders (in general) - however, it's the people that actually determine whether they succeed.
I suspect this would do quite well in India and Asia. However, I doubt it would sell many at all in the West, and would be slated by the press - unless this solar-powered wonder is going to play H.264 video at 1080p, run flash and let them run their favourite applications.
(And of course, by this time next year, there'll be many other competitors it'll be up against as well)

It doesen't matter if it is only a fraction as powerful as the Ipad. If it goes for 35 $, people will buy it. As simple as that.

They can spec it out so the estimated component cost is $35, but it won't be $35 when it's actually manufactured, though, just like the One Laptop Per Child laptop wasn't actually under $100 when it came out.
But I think the key phrase here is "iPad-like".

They don't get it, do they? The plan was to drop the price eventually to $20 and ultimately to $10, he added.
In order to sell it in the U.S. you have to inflate the price, not the other way around.
Imagine what Gates' and Jobs' net worth would be if their products sold for what they were really worth...
