Not out yet, but a version of FLStudio is going to have pitch correction. And from the video I saw, (Anyone have a link?) it looks very melodyne-like.

Cool, might be worth having a look.Spookyrockstar wrote:Not out yet, but a version of FLStudio is going to have pitch correction. And from the video I saw, (Anyone have a link?) it looks very melodyne-like.
I find it hard to believe that there's not much competition for this sort of thing!

There are some free plugs that do this.
I can't remember their name now but try and do a plug-in database search. I didn't like the end result that they gave me but I also didn't try very hard.

Cakewalk Sonar have Roland V-Vocal Variphrase Processor.
It's included in both Sonar Studio and Producer version nowadays. But if it can be used outside Sonar I'm not sure.

the only way i'd ever be convinced to use pitch correction is if katy perry offered to show me her stuff.

I've just been playing around with Katy Perry... I mean Melodyne demo and am very impressed!
So much so, I might have to sell my wife to raise at least half of the funds for it!

Even though the ones suggested are very good, for the most realistic results, I have to agree.C-note wrote:Melodyne is the only kid on the block

I don't know why nobody ever mentions this;

It was out months before Melodyne DNA.

Only availible as an intel MAC VST plugin

Visual Vox preview
VisualVox allows to isolate and pitch shift single notes from polyphonic audio material. VisualVox is an advanced digital simulation of the inner ear, the cochlea, where bundles of outer hair cells are responsible for creating incredible frequency resolution.
Applications
Change chords or single wrong notes in polyphonic recordings
Fit pieces into your composition that otherwise would not have been accessible due to their different key
Creatively play around with recorded audio like with a midi instrument
Isolate the natural harmonics of instruments, manipulate them, take an instrument under the magnifying glasses to better understand its sound
Make polyphonic chords out of monophonic parts of audio
Correct intonation problems of an instrument or voice
The present version of VisualVox polyphonic costs only 25 Euros as we still need your suggestions to remove any possible inconveniences.

I own the Melodyne plugin, and I have to disagree. The built-in Cubase plug (can't recall the name at the moment) sounds as good or better, but it is also much easier to tweak with some accuracy.Spookyrockstar wrote:Even though the ones suggested are very good, for the most realistic results, I have to agree.C-note wrote:Melodyne is the only kid on the block
In addition, it is much easier to use because the Cubase plug actually lets you in at the sample level for adjustment. Melodyne is very cumbersome to use as a plug.
Now, it is true that Melodyne is unique with the DNA technology, but to my ear, this is still a work in progress as far as usefulness is concerned.
For traditional pitch correction, I've put Melodyne back on the shelf and am using Cubase exclusively. AND...I'm really curious as to what FLS contributes to this realm.

I sold Melodyne and use the Cubase built-in functionality, but bear in mind I only use it for minor edits and rarely (and not really on vocals a lot). It works as advertised and came with my host. Melodyne was indeed cumbersome and I didn't care about mangling polyphonic tracks, etc.
