I think it was pulled since it said the dev was Spectrasonics. hopefully it's back up soon.

Yeah, it's an older plugin, but if it supports Audio Copy in the future I'd definitely get the XT (pay) version as it supports swapping of presets between the two. Unfortunately on iPhone you can only breed for new sounds, while iPad gets all the editing.

i'm still happy, Crystal is one of the best donation-ware plugin synths out there. I recall talks of something going on with Crystal, but I assumed it was getting an over-haul or something. Maybe it still is? :?:
Meh.

Wish I had picked it up and hope it is back. I like the desktop version a lot.

This is great news! Crystal was the first softsynth I really loved.. ages ago. Really cool that you'll be able to import your own vsti patches, I have whole banks I made back then.

I'll add some screenshots I found on Appshopper (still up there):

Up in the store now! Still says 'Spectrasonics' as developer though, hope it'll stay this time.

Does it have render and sonama ACP?

Post

It says Green Oak now for me, but I'm wondering if I should just wait for the premium edition (XT) mentioned that will be able to use MIDI keyboards via the camera connection kit and which will have preset sharing with the desktop version.

Doesn't seem to have either, yet. I really hope he keeps developing this. Especially audio copy/paste to begin with.

Some more info up on the Green Oak site now:
Differences between desktop and mobile versions of Crystal
The mobile version lacks only the following features compared to the desktop version:

* Utility menu with functions such as layer copying.
* Soundfont import
* Patch bank browser
* Effects presets
* Polyphony
* Advanced envelope editing features such as move locked

The mobile version adds the following features compared to the desktop version:

* A keypad for triggering notes
* An audition button for playing a note while editing
* Pinch and zoom the envelope displays

I was thinking that too, but the basic version is only $0.99 right now so no big loss getting both I guess, and supporting a great developer..

Post

Yeah... I'd just like some export options and if not I'll just go with the XT version. I know it is just .99 and for a good dev... don't twist my arm, please :)

Post

Ok thanks

Every audio app needs Sonoma ACP.

I'm kind of disappointed with the app and the fact that you cannot edit sounds on the iPhone only on the iPad. Even though the screen is smaller on the iPhone there should be room for a focus/zoom feature to make edit sounds available like on the iPad. Without the editing it hasn't any real value, for me at least, just browsing sounds is no big deal. The breed button is limited too. :(

I hope the XL version will have the extra's for the iPhone. :)

Got it on my iPad last night, very cool. It will be interesting to see how the app develops. Crystal has always been an excellent synth, but a bit clunky on the PC and I have not used it in years. But, the ipad version has put the fun back into it for me.

Yeah it's kind of basic right now, especially on the iPhone but there's a facebook page now with a discussion page where he says:
Green Oak Crystal wrote: Version 1.0 is just the beginning!
which sounds great! :love:

And there's already suggestions there for an editing page on the iphone.

I really hope Crystal for iOS keeps evolving now, with a new GUI and some features like a recorder, copy/paste and maybe tilt modulation of parameters, it could be a real hit I think. It's such a good synth and perfect for the iPad in many ways.

XL version is out now! Cool beans, I'll be getting that today
