The problem is you would need a low latency stereo interface via the ipad 30 pin connector for it to be used.

No I'm saying you'd need an audio interface form the iPad really as afaik most that use the headphone jack are only mono in.

Well the KORG iMS-20 has 2 KAOSS pad-type controllers built in. Only for the sounds that the iMs-20 itself makes and much more limited than the real thing (it's only for controlling the synth's own parameters), but lots of fun to be had even so.
The day that KORG releases a full KAOSS Pad 3 app for iPad I'm buying it. I've wanted one for years, but I'm not paying hardware prices - sub-$20 on iTunes: absolutely!
So long as they include Sonoma copy and paste, anyway, which they still haven't done for either the iMS-20 or the iElectribe. KORG's user support is woeful, the manuals are terrible, and AFAICT they don't give a damn about listening to their user-base, but the iMS20 is a wonderful app, let down only by the aforementioned copy & paste issue and some weird interface "features" and the odd bug or two. It sounds brilliant!

Don't mean to drag up an old thread.
There's also improvox for that touchy-feely kinda thing.

This is only a controller, not a processor like an actual KAOSS pad. Though, to be honest, I think wanting your iPad to do this kind of i/o audio processing is somewhat silly. I imagine if you're on KVR you use a laptop or desktop computer in your music, and there are MANY plug ins that frankly run rings around what a KAOSS pad can do. While it's not multitouch, I've been using my Novation Remote's XY pad to control Shake Pad, Camelphat/space and many others for a long time, so there's nothing new here. I also bought a cheap but pretty effective touchscreen monitor that works too.coffeefox wrote:http://gadgetynews.com/konkreet-perform ... pprove-of/

One thing that seems to be missing from them all is pressure sensitivity. I know an iPad doesn't detect this, but perhaps it could decipher pressure based on the amount of skin contact on the sensor. I've toyed with getting an iPad for just such control... but I'm not totally sure I'd use it much. As a guitar player, my hands are pretty tied up as it is, but I could see this being a boon for DJs and synthesists who's music is less about playing an instrument and more about tweaking sound. I know there's a very fine line between the two, but that's fodder for a different thread.
