I know this sounds stupid, but I'm having this document to keep all practical tips for music making.

So I remember reading somewhere brass "fall offs are often used... "in certain genre"" at the end of something. I don't remember which. Probably Jazz, Funk or Blues. Big Band is obvious. But I don't exactly remember that well.
I don't even know in which context it stood.

Let me know, what you know about brass fall offs! ;) Maybe we can figure it out!

Jazz.

Or really, any kind of Jazz-influenced music using brass. Obviously though, other instrumentalists have picked it up as well, so even heavy metal quitarists will slide away from notes for a "fall off" effect (whether they got this from jazz or came up with it independently is a separate issue - actually it seems like a very natural thing to do).
