Hi,

There are a lot of creative apps for music productions available at the app store, but most of them are either locked to the device with no comfortable way to transfer your work to your DAW or they are controller replacements but lack a single feature i'm looking for: As a long time NI Battery user i certainly enjoy the features of it, however i really miss an integrated step sequencer. Right now i program my beat pattern via midi keyboard, recording the results to a midi track and manually correcting my timing afterwards. i know this can be achieved with an iPad and one of the many controller apps aswell, but instead of switching from recording and playing mode back and forth I'd love to have a step sequencer on the iPad that talks to my DAW over WIFI, so that i can set pattern on the iPad, edit them on the fly, all while triggering Battery and thereby immediatelly being able to hearing the results. Once I'm satisfied with my pattern I'd hit record in the DAW and have it fixed, while still being able to adjust the pattern or change the samples in Battery.
Unfortunately i didn't come across such an app yet. Do you know of any? I hear good things about iSequence but as far as i can tell exporting your midi fike and manually importing it into the DAW seems to be the only way to get your pattern to Battery. Then there's TouchOSC and similar apps. TouchOSC is great for a lot purposes, I could create and MPC-styled layout and record patterns via said layout, however i very much prefer a good step sequencer and I can't imagine I'm the only one who would like to work with an iPad step sequencer (or a piano roll) that triggers Battery or any other instrument in my DAW. Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

yes you are right a app liek this is missing.

I mean, you can always use TouchOSC for some MPC action or Beatmaker or Music Studio for programming beats but it's different from what you have in mind I guess.

only thing so far there, is the "little-midi-machine"

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/little-m ... 18004?mt=8

it's free but requires the Line6 Midi-Mobilizer Interface.
I own both Battery and the Mobilizer but haver not tried the combination, yet.

The Mobilzer is a neat little no hassle device. Though not build to survive World War 3, it's a qualitly device.

I will try it and eventually report back.

cheers :)

Not used them myself, but these should work:

Keep an eye out for version 2 of this because you generally can't upgrade to new versions and have to rebuy: http://www.syntheticbits.com/funkbox.html
It should be good though. I like version 1.
