I was searching for detailed informations about hum noise and...

The Hum is a generic name for a series of phenomena involving a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming noise not audible to all people.

I can hear that hum noise very well...

Hums have been reported in various geographical locations.

I had a "Hum" in my home stereo, HD video, system, lot'sa cables going back an forth then to an amp to auxiliary speakers. It all worked but I had a hum. I remember my dad labling it a "60cycle hum" kind of feedback to the speakers. I went down to my local Radio Shack, and bought a "Ground-Loop Isolator." I plugged it in between my converter box audio out to the HD monitor audio in.... tada, no more hum, good quality sound... way better. Not sure of what technically was wrong in the first place, maybe someone wiser can comment, but this worked for me.

Sometimes it's impossible, some old gear seems to have a "hum inside" feature (you can hear some hum connecting the headphones straight into the instrument output).

BTW the thread was about something else...

The best hum remover is the same as generic noise remover. Not as a VST plugin but as found on any mature audio editor, because the process to perform it is not really suitable to work as a generic plugin. You select a piece of audio with only hum/noise, it processes that and takes a 'fingerprint' of what that sounds like. That then gets subtracted from the whole file.

With too aggressive settings you will get audible artefacts similar to bad mp3 compression. So better set it less aggressive and do it in two or three passes.

Do not worry, your friendly government is already working on it. First point of action in removing hum is removing bees. We‘re about 70% effective now, you should notice an improvement in overall hum already.

No, thank you! We couldn’t have done it without your taxes. Well, I guess that makes us all into heroes. Sorry, have to get back to work. More humming insects to be regulated.

I hard super crazy guitar hum and general noise at my last house. It affected all my guitars except my acoustic, which had a pickup but not the electric guitar type. Nothing I did made a dent in it until I bought a Hum Decimator pedal, which did a great job. When I moved last June, the noise didn’t move with me. Same gear, same setup. No noise. I did start getting some noise on my G&L Skyhawk guitar, but a quick opening showed that it was a disconnected ground wire and a bit of solder fixed her right up.

So what was the issue with the previous house? No idea, but I’d never experienced EM interference like that before. It affected WiFi performance as well.
