how do people like skrillex make their tracks?

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

just a quick question. do they have amazing computers, or do they sample their sounds individually. My computer becomes annoying to use after i put to many vst's on. but on the other, sampling each sounds would be annoying too, if i need to change something.

cheers.

My computer becomes annoying two minutes after I turn it on.

i read somewhere that skrillex produced the entire scary monsters and nice sprites ep on a macbook (pro) and krk monitors one of which was broken... it just goes to show that gear really doesnt matter.

omg, he must have done something though to it, otherwise it would have been going amazingly slowww

I dont know where did he make most of his tracks, but i know that he probably has access to deadmau5's studio and hardware.I believe he can have access to many other expensive and super stuff. But powerful hardware and such arent always a must. All you need is your brain and the needed knowledge.
STFU.Fl Studio is the best!

Its not as hard as you think. Pretty much find out how to make a Neuro Reese bass/lead first( use massive )then modulate everything, envelopes etc.
then stick a phaser on it.

risome made a good point to "freeze" tracks. once you get a nice 8 or 16 bar midi/loop melody going, freeze it then split it into parts with a sampler. but make sure to keep the original freeze so you can use it as an intro/break .then basically make an new melody with what you sliced. since the cuts are already in key with the original freeze you can just a mash keys and shit and itll still sound good. to an extent.

this goes with pretty much everything you can chop and sample.

And you def' dont need a mac. windows xp ftw

the modern-talking wavetable in massive with an lfo on it. sample and hold. some lfo lowpass filter. Everyone else is far off. Please dont try broken monitors.
