android sucks (uloops studio 'pro' review)

I downloaded the only full featured "DAW" on the android market, uloops studio pro, for my Droid X.
Here's a link:

Given all the cool features, I was quite excited to shell out $7 for this thing (or rather, for a 6 month subscription...).
However, after playing around with it I soon discovered IT IS NOT REAL TIME.
You can't hear changes to a song until you've uploaded the song for rendering to their servers, and then downloading it again (which is what 'saving' actually does). How can anyone make music like this? It's completely useless.
What really pisses me off, is that the developers don't bother mentioning this AT ALL in the description. If this were Apple's app store, this shit would be taken down or flagged. But of course google/android being the shining beacon of freedom that it is, allows this app on there and makes it the user's responsibility to uninstall and get a refund within 15 minutes...
So that means that once the app is installed, you have 15 minutes to make a new account and receive the email confirmation to unlock the pro version, get the app up and running (which requires a strong connection), figure out why the song won't play unless its been 'saved' after each change, and then go back to the store and uninstall/refund.
Needless to say, I am stuck with this piece of trash app.
I own an Ipod Touch and (as I mentioned) a Droid X. For all the shouting and hollering about how Apple is 'totalitarian', they give the user better products and the developers more capital (from what I've read). The android market is filled to the brim with shitty scam apps like this one.

+1 ..always try before you buy.bkuhlwjk wrote:They have a free version as well which is fairly full featured; just not as many sounds. If you are so fired up over $7 why didn't you just try it out for free!

I'll never touch Android again, after dealing with three different Droids. What a bunch of turds. Glad to be on an iPhone now. It would also be nice if Google got serious about fragmentation as well as security.

This is why we haven't developed AmpliTube for Android.

If you want to use your own own sounds as SMS ringtones on an iThing then you have to sell them to yourself via iTunes. Yeah, great audio system (at least for Apple).
iOS might be great for audio programming but companies with such an attitude will never get money from me.

Not sure about having to 'sell them to yourself' - just load your sounds into garageband and use the 'Send ringtone to itunes' option - it's then in your itunes library ready for the next sync.Benutzername wrote:If you want to use your own own sounds as SMS ringtones on an iThing then you have to sell them to yourself via iTunes. You might to first know WTF you're talking about before slamming something. I know, too much trouble to be bothered with, right?Benutzername wrote:If you want to use your own own sounds as SMS ringtones on an iThing then you have to sell them to yourself via iTunes. I agree. The OS itself is pretty decent (when it wasn't crashing) and is visually nicer and more functional than Blackberry is. However I found it to be far too unstable (crashing in the middle of a call, anyone?) for it to be something I'd want to continue with. And yes, the apps just suck. This isn't Google's fault; in fact Google's own apps are quite nice. But the rest are not designed very well, and lack polish.jacqueslacouth wrote:I have to agree with the majority of posts here. I am an Android user (at least for the next 2 years of my goddamn contract) and I realise I should have shelled out for an iPhone. The android apps are generally lacking in quality and NOT just the music ones...it feels to me like everything seems to be a poor workaround trying to be an iphone but never quite getting there....anyways, for my music stuff? Looks like I'll get one of these iPad 2 thingamajigs...they look the vegemite on toast!
