What's happening with Cantabile.
Is it a dead lane?
A lot of months with no progress or just a word from Brad.
Is it normal?

Yes, it's quite nice. Unfortunately that has no direct connection to what you think is wrong and/or needs to be upgraded with Cantabile. I've noted that many fixes have come out when Cantabile is shown as incompatible with a certain plugin, or a feature has been "broken" when fixing another.Gianluca13_2 wrote:Look a the moon
If you have something specific that you believe is a bug, then please -- by all means -- do report it here. It will be verified as a bug and I'm sure Brad will do his best to fix the problem.
One thing I'd hate to see is updates for the sake of updates; adding unnecessary extraneous features that only introduce another level of complexity and the need for more updates.
Additionally, if Brad is following his real life as a software developer (probably still seething at having only fifteen or so people buy his program but noting the dozens that miraculously show up after the torrent becomes available), then we should probably let the chap make some cash so he can pursue his side gig developing software.
And of course there's the alternative that Brad just can't support this software full time, and he ends up selling it to another company who just screws it up or discontinues it to stave off the competition.
As for me, even if there's never another update I'll be happy because this host does exactly what I want for the application I need, and it's the only one that does.

You make no sense. You cannot spell. And you still have yet to state which features you believe to be lacking in Cantabile that warrant an update.Gianluca13_2 wrote:Then look at the finger. Do you think si it better? Or do you think also this is nice?

Very popular chinese proverb:
"When a finger points to the moon, the imbecile looks at the finger"
Make sense now?
Not what is broken in Cantabile concern me but his future.

You should first train your English before calling somebody else an imbecile. Otherwise it looks ridiculousGianluca13_2 wrote: "When a finger points to the moon, the imbecile looks at the finger"
Regarding Cantabile, I wouldn't like to see it left alone, either. Though, I agree with dluther, that this piece of software is pretty much complete. The problems I encounter are very rare, and the set of options, which are already available is really amazing.
This is one of the most brilliant programs I've ever seen - especially because of its potency vs. its intuitiveness. I really hope Brad is coming back some day, but even if he's not - I can't stop being grateful for what he's already given me for my money

What does this have to do with the quality of my english with the content of my speech?
OR in other words, only those who speak english correct has entitlement to express their opinions?
I admit the expression "imbecile" is a little inappropriate but it is exactly the original proverb. Didn't want to offend anyone i simply took the translation as you can find it everywhere.
My initial question was not a complaint of defects of Cantabile but a concern for its future. Of course i expected some prompt response on the progress of Cantabile if anyone knows it and not the simple statement that at the time did not problems. This is what i called "look at the finger".
And you also answer that Cantabile has no major problems. I know. I use it all the days and at the moment it works rather well.
I am worried about his future and a possible abandonment because as you and many other people i have spent a lot of time to learn and work on it.

Cantabile is a very useful piece of software that occupies a very important yet under-served niche of users -- live performers. It's incredibly stable, has a tiny footprint on resources and is feature complete. It's been valuable for me many times over the price I paid for it. If no further development ever happened, I would be disappointed but satisfied enough to continue making music with it for quite a long time.Gianluca13_2 wrote:What does this have to do with the quality of my english with the content of my speech?

Now as it turns out, when you purchase Cantabile you get an e-mail address to contact Brad along with your registration code. Tell us, what was Brad's response to your queries about his well-being and the future of Cantabile? Oh I'm sorry, what was that you said? You didn't actually purchase Cantabile and you didn't contact Brad directly? Odd. Yet you feel perfectly justified coming into this forum whining about updates and insulting those who feel the developer's time is better spent in places other than supporting those who won't support him.
As for the time you spent to "learn and work on it" -- sorry. That comes with the product. Any product.
And as far as the future of Cantabile goes -- it's pure speculation until the developer says anything to the contrary. Until that happens, I'm not going to spend a single moment worrying about it. I suggest you do the same.

I was among the first to buy the versioe 2 license and before I had that version 1 with I worked for a long period of time. When Brad started working with version 2 we have had some correspondence in which I showed him some experience and some suggestion and you can find them in the current version of Cantabile. The separate audio metronome I asked him, the idea of partial send it's mine and you can find confirmation of this in this forum. Some fixes for bugs in various plugins are the result of my reporting. If you go to download experimental versions can be seen that in 2058 there is a fix for the correct operation of Waldorf Largo and this is just the last. As you can see if I wanted to write an email to Brad I had no problem doing so. Evidently the purpose of this tread could not be reached by email. It was from my point of view, preferably, in the interests of this community, a reaction at a higher level than the simple consideration that Cantabile works well for now. And that is why I asked you to look at the moon. Maybe there was a purpose other than you were seeing.

There's an old saying: "Winning an argument in an online forum is a lot like winning in the Special Olympics: at the end of the day, you're still a retard."
Completely non-PC, but the meaning is pretty much the same.
I generally don't respond to trolls or trolling behavior, because nothing good ever comes of it; but a few things you just said are completely contradictory. For instance:
Which brings me to:
In any event Gianluca, I do wish you well. With any group of people there's always at least one person who needs constant individual attention and reassurance, so I get it. And I also have to apologize to everyone else reading this for taking the troll bait -- my bad; won't happen again.
This is the last time I will respond in this thread (or any like it). It serves absolutely no purpose, it really doesn't have anything to do with Cantabile, nobody will ever benefit from having read it, so there's no use in my continuing.

Huh? You say that you've been conversing with the developer for at least a couple of years, yet instead of sending an e-mail (which BTW Brad does respond -- I just had a bit of a conversation with him the other day) you come here and ask "hey, what's happening/where's Brad/is Cantabile dead?". This is very odd; you went to great lengths supporting the claim that you have the means to e-mail the developer, yet it begs the question: Why didn't you? Oh wait a second -- you did, and he didn't respond.Gianluca13_2 wrote:As you can see if I wanted to write an email to Brad I had no problem doing so.

Oh, I get it. Brad didn't respond to you, that hurt your feelings so you decided to come here and kick the hornet's nest to see if anyone else would join in, figuring that if you stirred up enough trouble that Brad would just have to come back and say 'now calm down everyone, everything's fine, I just had a flat tire' or something. Is that it? (No, don't answer -- tell you why in just a bit)Gianluca13_2 wrote:It was from my point of view, preferably, in the interests of this community, a reaction at a higher level than the simple consideration that Cantabile works well for now.
Yeah, there was a different purpose -- one that you yourself provided:Gianluca13_2 wrote:And that is why I asked you to look at the moon. Maybe there was a purpose other than you were seeing.
So here's the situation: This isn't the first thread you started essentially with the exact same purpose. But with this one, I'm done. I think I've wasted more time on this thread than I have at any other time on KVR. If Brad actually does come and respond just because people like you would rather stir up discontentment in the absence of personal validation, well, all I can say is that I'd be pretty disappointed. But that's just me.Gianluca13_2 wrote:"When a finger points to the moon, the imbecile looks at the finger" Make sense now?

Cool down boys...
If there is anything imho that might be improved is gui for some configurations, like master bus. Under the hood there is really a lot more than I usually need...
It does not look like a Cantabile 3 is in sight - which might be the right step to probably add such things.
Don't know about license sales but I also doubt it has paied back in an economical sense or ever will. It's great work from a passionate developer we should be happy that it exists at all... shouldn't we?...
