Polyphonic aftertouch in Cronox 3.6.2 mac?

Hi
In the CronoX 3 manual, in Appendix F "Modulation matrix sources and destinations", it says there are two sources available called "Aftert(mono)" and "Aftert(poly)". My MIDI device has polyphonic aftertouch, but when I launch the AU in Logic, I only find one modulation source "Aftertouch". I'm a CronoX newbie, so I may do something wrong, but it seems I can't make CronoX respond to my aftertouch. Has the polyphonic aftertouch support been removed, or is it only PC version or something?

Sorry, this is a flaw in the manual; It should work, because all our synth now automatically take the "right" modulation source, so choosing Aftertouch means it responds to both mono- and polyphonic aftertouch, whatever comes in.
If its not working, please send a support request

so we get your system specs and can trace this issue.

Sorry Peter, I think it must have been me who have made a mistake in the patch. I tried to make a new patch from the ground up, and here aftertouch works perfectly. I will look more closely at the patch I made, to see if I've made a mistake. Otherwise I'll send a support request.

I have tried going back to my old patch. I think aftertouch works, I'm just not able to get it to work the way I want it to work. My MIDI controller is an electronic hand percussion (Roland Handsonic 10). It emulates damping of the drums using polyphonic aftertouch. I was trying to make a drum patch in CronoX that plays a sample (in the loop sampler), with a little FM and delay effects on top, and use aftertouch to simulate damping of the drum so that if I hit and immediately release, the entire sample would be played at full volume, but if I hit it and hold down, it would be damped. I did this by setting modulation source = aftertouch, modulation amount = -1.0 and for modulation destination I have tried Main ampl, Gen 2 ampl (the sampler) and Filter 1 ampl (the filter it is routed through). I can see in Logic that the aftertouch data is received, but I am not able to hear any difference between slap-and-release on the drum pad, and slap-and-hold. Perhaps aftertouch just doesn't respond fast enough for this type of use? I don't know.... any suggestions would be appreciated...
I'm a CronoX newbie, and haven't really tried doing this on another soft synth either.... sooooo perhaps I should look into the time sampler and try to emulate damping using velocity as the modulations source and shortening playback time of the sample when it is "damped".... hmmmm.... I'll try to think of something.

I guess that your Handsonic 10 sends a single Aftertouch event, which means its not constantly reducing Volume in CronoX. I tried your routing and it works nice with a keyboard, so i can only assume the Handsonic way of sending aftertouch doesnt do the job. Or its sending very decent pressure (the range is 0..127, so in our test routing 127 means silence; if it sends lets say 30 this means only a slight reduction in volume). You could try to use multiple routings of this kind to multiply the effect of after touch.

The Handsonic does send aftertouch events continuously, and it does go up to 127, it's just that my sample was very short - the audible portion only about 20 ms, and no looping. Most of the duration of each played note was made up by the delay effect. I have tried it now with a longer sample, and it works fine. After some experimentation, it seems the output of the delay effect is not affected by the Main ampl modulation target? And probably this goes for other effects too? That actually makes for some very natural sounds. It seems my scheme for emulating damping just didn't work with such short samples.
Anyway, thanks for all your help, Peter!

You're right, the effects section is not affected by the main amplitude modulation,
and you're welcome
