Yes, I've tried it. It's a really good concept, some good sounds but I think it could do a step sequencer / editor.

The technology looks pretty hot but after watching the vid and reading the manual it looks like it basically does 4/4 16th note oompa loompa house patterns. No swing on the matrix sequencer, no odd time signatures. Kinda boring, really. Jasuto is a more interesting modular approach.

I think so as well, though he has been quiet lately...~Pd~ wrote:Jasuto is a more interesting modular approach.

Seems to be very limited in sounds.... plus no copy/paste and no core midi....No real controls in the synth... only has a two octave keyboard......
Plus, $5 per effect? Wow.....

The sounds are ok to me but as for fx, I like the low pass filter and the delay but the chorus/flanger is a bit odd, it doesn't sound convincing to me.

the concept is good. big controlls and such.
but the sounds and versatility - hm ... looks like a toy. nothing more.

There's been a massive introductory price drop on iap. Buy now if your tempted.

Temptation is all very well, but enthusiasm is likely to be shortlived. Despite all the hype on the website, this app is just too limited and too toy-like to be worth any serious attention.cyberheater wrote:There's been a massive introductory price drop on iap. Buy now if your tempted.

Can someone who has it tell me - can it do different time signatures? Can I have a 5/4 or 3/4 pattern? And does that clip launcher allow multiple patterns to launch at the same time, or is it just a playlist?

Rigidly 4/4. Other limitations: 2-octave keyboard with just ADSR (joke), no core MIDI, iTunes export only, poor quality samples, glitching even on iPad2, poor FX... the list goes on.~Pd~ wrote:Can someone who has it tell me - can it do different time signatures? I feel a little better about my cynicism, then.

I would not dismiss TableTop so quick. This can be a lot fun. And Retronyms is acutally listing,
They slashed the prices of the FX to $1.
I already asked support what about MIDI clock.
I surely admit that I would not call it finshed as it is now, as of missing MIDI, odd signitures low audio level output...
But don't act, like you not getting your $5's worth out of it.

I've been playing about with quite a bit the last day or two. I quite like it. It's great just to experiment on it.
It does run out of CPU quite quickly though. Hopefully they can optimise this further in future updates.

Rebekah from Retronyms responded to my complaint about paying the original prices for the FX with this reply:mindnoise wrote:I would not dismiss TableTop so quick. This can be a lot fun. And Retronyms is acutally listing,

"We'll be offering deals on upcoming devices to make it up to everyone who bought the effects before the price drop. You've been added to that list, and we'll be in touch when the new devices are ready. We've got a 1.02 update in the works, but that's mostly performance and bug fixes, I think the new devices will be coming in v.1.1."
So, I'll try and keep an open mind and see what v.1.1 holds in store.
