48-channel surround-sound in a pop-up inflatable venue - will be built for performance next summer, part of the UK's Cultural Olympiad celebrations.

The Project's creative director is my wife, sound-artist Amie Slavin, and I'll be overseeing technical delivery including programming from our very own DSP - Duncan Parsons.

okay, so its not made yet ... but build it we will ... :D

I erred and meant to move this to EE...can a mod move it for me? It's a great post and idea but i think it would be better in EE.

Yeh, phase might be a bit tricky, but then I've found that with larger systems its not too problematic as there is generally so much going on that it gets a bit tricky to discern such subtleties. There will be initially 40+ voices moving accross the rig, undergoing granular resynthesis - a lot for the listener to get their head around :)

In terms of sausages ... imagine a set of hoops lined-up to make a half-tube. Now simply offset one side by half a hoop's depth - i.e. standing facing the centre of a hoop, the left side will be nearer to you than the right ... hope that makes sense !

@hink - feel free to have the thread go on a tour of kvr - the rig will end-up touring afterall :D

are you expecting any Higgs boson? sounds like you've got yourself an inflatable Hadron Collider :-o
