i'm currently considering to broaden my perspective a bit and dive into iphone app development, so i'd like to collect some ideas about what type of apps are desired on the market. obviously, i'm talking about music apps here - or at least, audio related apps.
i didn't have that sub-forum here on the radar up to now, so if there are already threads about that, please point me them.
ideally, i'd like to write something where i can pour in some dsp know-how, but i'm happy to hear less dsp-heavy suggestions as well.
thanks in advance, robin

Maybe you should make a poll?Robin from www.rs-met.com wrote:i'm currently considering to broaden my perspective a bit and dive into iphone app development, so i'd like to collect some ideas about what type of apps are desired on the market. obviously, i'm talking about music apps here - or at least, audio related apps.
For instance you could let people choose from
synths/drummachines/grooveboxes
Sampler studios (like beatmaker 2 or Nanostudios)
DAWS (Audio clip based like MultitrackDAW, Meteor or Studio HD)
Effect boards/rack
Audio editors
Music generators
Midi controllers
or whatever fits your own scope of interest and skill.
FYI Currently I personally want synths with step sequenser, background audio and copy and paste.
Cheers

for the moment, i'd like to hear all kinds of suggestions. a poll would restrict the options to some pre-selection which i would have to provide. but maybe at some later stage, yes.Locus M wrote:Maybe you should make a poll?

At the moment there's no NI FM style synth on iPhone/iPad, there's a simple fm synth called DXi, but that's it. IMO, I can't get enough of modular synths, Jasuto Pro n Sunvox are the best atm, but Sunvox's is v.hard to use on iOS. Either way I like having a distortion effect in my synths, preferably with a linkable ADSR to shape it after it steals the dynamics.
Having said that, the thing I WANT MOST on iPhone is a synth that let's you draw multi-point envelopes ala NI Absynth (Crystal xt let's u do this, but is iPad only, the iPhone version doesn't let u edit envelopes at all, also both versions crash alot when modulating the filter)

I have no interest in any iphone / android apps. Personally I see no real use in them for me. I cannot imagine any situation where I would want to use a telephone to make music on

Me too. This is the most frustrating thing about iOS synth apps - they either rely on your being able to play them and forego having any kind of inbuilt sequencer, or they don't allow you to get a recording of your audio out and into other apps.Locus M wrote: FYI Currently I personally want synths with step sequenser, background audio and copy and paste.
