Hi all here is my top 5 tracks

Artist IrionDaRonin - Genesis: 5
I have to say i love the background sounds and the build up to 0.48 The change at 1.52 jumps out at you and then at 2.23 great fat synth. A good ambient track to chill out to.

Artist Bjporter - Track Gather round the piano and turn the strobe light on:4
Wow what a great start, love the piano and the pads add to the dream state, then the build up comes and you know its coming, then the kick comes in and off we go.

Artist Pocvecem - Z3t4p0p: 3
Starts off dark,I love the reverse bass / synth you have in there that comes up in volume to 1.14. Then drops into a great part with some strong pads driving the track.

Artist V'ger - Track Humanoid: 2
Great start that takes your mind away. sounds pop out at you and then run off, Its a sit back and let it take you on a wild ride track :)

Artist Dead Eddy - Extenuating Circumstances: 1
well dont listen to this track in a dark room on your own :) I like the bass in the track adds that whats going on, you never know whats going to happen next so your waiting to see where the track will take you next.

So thats me done. I have to say I think all the tracks are good and shows how much talent there is here.

Kx 001 - Reticulous 5
**This song has a certain vibe from .. somewhere in my past, must have been 15 years ago when i was on that buss going through Germany on my way to Salzburg. Stepping through, on the other side .. darkness.
3ee - Sequenced into being - 4
**Better hold on to something or you'll slip into another realm.. :)
satyatunes - Welcome z3ta - 3
**I love this kind of chill out, it let's you fade away. My dog looked at me, wondering where i was. I smiled back at him and kept smiling..
Doc Jon - Reinventing the Wheel - 2
**Detroit Rock City. Same mindset for me. Driving on the road where the yellow lights goes by, one by one. In a sense im already where im going, and if it all ends, im happy.
V'ger - Humanoidz - 1
**An old wooden ship in the middle of an ocean storm. The sun shines through and the waves cant touch it. It remains safe while everything is torn apart around it. Waterdrops turn into foam and the air becomes salted.

Thanks guys making this music, much enjoyment from my side.. 8)

Hey guys-

Here are my votes, it was really tough to narrow it down to five... and then to figure out how to put them in order. I think all 5 I picked are really well done.

But this is just my opinion, everyone has different tastes in music, and differ in what they like to hear production-wise.

Instead of reviewing each with one or 2 lines of what I liked about each, I will just say...to me, all these 5 deserve to win. Very well done 8)

Anyways, here we go:

bzur - R3vive all humanZ+ - 5

PocVecem - z3t4p0p - 4

V'ger - Humanoid - 3

IrionDaRonin - Genesis - 2

Doc Jon - Reinventing the Wheel - 1

This is a tough vote... Far too many of these are making the first cut! Grr!

That's what I meant in my last post, it was real tough, but I had to narrow it down somehow. :?

Post

OK. I have it narrowed down to my top five! now for the order...

Gorgorgathgorgorgor's OSC 31 Votes

I have included the notes I made while I was judging, and included the additional 7 entries that made my "first cut" as Honorable Mentions. I am always grateful when I get feedback on my entries, so I try to reciprocate a bit :)

5 Points
IrionDaRonin - Genesis*****
So glad I have a subwoofer for this! This may be my fave (you did it again!) It just keeps building and building! every section gets better than the last! you have achieved goosebumps!

4 Points
Examigan - Tempest****
Immediately like this one. good syncopation. Develops nicely. Great first effort in the OSC!

3 Points
bzur - R3vive all humanZ+***
Gotta love the title, though it puts us at odds, (Resistance is futile!) I want to give you points, but there are so many good entries.... Also, your soundcloud feed has become regular listening for me, so I may be biased :)

2 Points
Ancient - Goodbye Kabul**
Another very strong entry from the Ancient! I hear birds! Love the arrangement. Nice theme too.

1 Point
PocVecem - z3t4p0p*
nice build-up intro... then it explodes into "Chase Scene on a Bullet Train" music...love the nasty bass/lead

Honorable Mentions

V'ger - Humanoid
nice. glad this is an instrumental comp tho, I'm guessing by the accompanying illustration that the lyrics might not have been entirely wholesome! Masterful work.

evo2slo - Deadly Snail
The Cars meet Ja Wobble... and maybe Eno? Very scary snail action at around 2:31... love the bass line. Solo near the end is a bit frantic tho, contrasting with the rest of the track's sinister feel.

Doc Jon - Reinventing the Wheel
This does sound strangely familiar... but I like it! loaded with cool retro references, but I'm torn, are they too gratuitous? hmmm... and of course I'm generally not a fan of the "medley" format, it's just a little too "hooray for everything" for me.

Kx 001 - Reticulous
Love it from the top, very minimalist and even kraftwerky (yet originally so) I like the marimba sound. This would get points for sure if there weren't so many top level entries this time.

Mike777 - The Ruins of Mars
I like this one, Takes me to another world, as I'm sure was intended :) very minimalist intro. transition out of intro was a bit rough for me though.

Dead Eddy - Extenuating Circumstances
Love the way the drops in the plucks syncopate things, interesting. Sounds like a soundtrack for Halloween or something...

MDashDrake - Z3TA Dance
Sounds like a post-victory Robot Army Dance Party! I approve.

5 pts : Mike 777 - The ruins of Mars
I didn't really like part one, but part 2 brings a dreamy atmosphere which would make a thug feel like he was a princess being rescued in a castle far away. no joke

4 pts : Bjporter - Gather round the piano and t
I would have a hard time finding something wrong with this piece of music.Beautiful

3 pts : Ancient - Goodbye Kabul
Very well made. The type of songs one would expect from Zeta, so it sounds like you knew what you were doing. On a side note, I'm intrigued by the intro . To me it sounds like a tribute to Oasis' " Don't look back in anger" intro which is a tribute to some other song.

2 pts : Pcvecem - z3tapop
After the first 2 minutes or so, i thought it would be the definitive #1. It was a bit repetitive though.

1 pt : evo2slo - Deadly Snail
Some very nice beats.

Here goes my first/quick impressions which are mostly my comments in Soundcloud OSC group.

I will post my votes this week, so i will expand myself a bit more with my favourite tracks then.
This month is very tough, and there are a bunch of marvellous tracks.
Some newcomers here too which is good of course.

Some of the tracks are in my actual playlist.
Cheers everybody for participating and sharing your art.
Really impressed this month.

satYatunes - Welcome z3ta
Great pads and arps, very well composition and nice mix, electronically relaxing.

3ee - Sequenced Into Being
Amazing pads with a nice use of built-in effects of Z3ta. Lovely misterious vibe.

Bjporter - Gather 'round the piano and the Turn the Strobe Light On
Well made piano sound and nice melody, i'm still wondering how to get that sound, and also the drumloops very well made. What a title!

V'ger - Humanoid
Powerful as usually, and very well processed and mixed. Some analogic portamento arps with these delays drives me crazy.

Dan e10 - Traviesonota
Great epics pads at beginning, and nice familiar melodies at the end.

Kx 001 - - Reticulous
Nice minimalistic riffs and rhythm beats.

Mike777 - The Ruins of Mars
The intro is nothing from another world, but from the middle to the end is an amazing and fantasy track.

MDashDrake - Z3TA Dance
Nice strong beats and very well made dance style melody.

PocVecem - z3t4pØp
Amazing pads at intro, very nice gritty sweeping up arp bassline, some parts reminds me of Daft Punk.

Examigan - Tempest
Nice misterious vibe here. Good pads and well made basslines.

Doc Jon - Reinventing the Wheel
Amazing Jarresque analog sound, and the changes of rhythm and melodies makes the track impossible to bore you. Awesome job.

Dead Eddy - Extenuating Circumstances
Amazing atmosphere, i was walking in some lonely streets coming back home from hospital at 4am while listening this. An intense experience. The track gets points if you are in the perfect place.

Ancient - Goodbye Kabul
Very nice feeling and vibes here in this track, amazing sounds. Although sounds a bit sad, like a goodbye as the title says.

Sly fly - D Pentagon 5
A happy vibe in the whole song. You can't be sad with this one. Nice solos.

bzur - R3vive all humanZ+
Great pads and some nice melodies in Bzur this month track. Good mix as usually.

evo2slo - Deadly Snail
Nice vibe overall, and great dub delays there. It were made with a limited demo, which means a great effort from the composer, that's the actitude. Respect evo2slo.

SJMmusic - Prospekt
Nice rhythmical pads, some gritty drone basslines, this track has a great vibe.

I copypasted the names in Soundcloud inversed order. So this actual order means nothing really.

Have a good day :)

What do you guys all think is best?
1. Leaving track feedback up there in Soundcloud
2. Writing a sentence or two here
I ask because I notice a lot of Soundcloud comments are positive and not very constructive. It's lovely to hear nice things, but for me, I'd actually prefer constructive feedback. Some may feel that inappropriate for public Soundcloud comments. Positive feedback makes my ego swell with pride, but nothing else really beats constructive feedback.

My background is in the film industry (writer/director) where we pay a LOT of money for constructive feedback. I paid $6,000 for a top notch screenplay script editor once. Their job is to ignore what works and press on with what's not working.

But as a Uni teacher, I understand that all student feedback has to be gentle (learnt that one the hard way).

So I think I've lost my perspective on giving feedback a bit over time. If you want me to rip into your song, I can try, but you all certainly have license to rip the crap out of mine (while providing ways that I can improve).

I think that both are good ways. For example, I posted some SoundCloud feedback and will post some extra feedback when voting here as well. :)

I agree that both kind of criticism can be productive, but it's a dilemma in that some are basically just based on personal taste so the receiver should also separate the two which is not always guaranteed..

So how do u tell ur students now Objectman? Softly softly or just by the grade alone?
