By popular request (thanks for all the suggestions) we have a new section at iDesignSound.com

It's called "Apps that support..." and it gives you the ability to search for apps that support the various popular iOS features...

Sonoma AudioCopy / AudioPaste (MAPI)
Intua General Pasteboard
CoreMIDI
Virtual MIDI
MIDI Clock Sync
Camera Connection Kit (USB-CCK)
Korg's Wireless Sync-Start Technology (WIST)
MIDI File Import / Export
AKAI SynthStation25
Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer (Model I)

Took quite a while to sort through the apps and add them to the various sections so I apologise for taking so long, and I hope you like it :)

You can access the new "Apps that support..." section at the top of every page and on the right hand side of each page in the App Database, or of course you can just revisit this thread ;) (who is in charge of sticky?)

If I have missed anything from any of the lists then please let me know and I'll get them added.

Please do keep the suggestions for new site features coming, and I'll add them to my to-do list ;)

Enjoy!

Alex

Great work thanks but ffs Apple!! - get yourselves some unified standards. 1 MIDI standard for all, 1 audio/midi copy/paste standard for all. How hard is that?

Yeah, I have noticed and used this new search system and it is excellent Alex! Good work indeed. I have even run out of suggestions to your site for the moment...what more could we possible need?

Cheers!

I'm sure you'll think of something (I think the extra searches was your original suggestion actually?)

I am working on something else that you'll like. Again it will probably take some time though before it's ready (as you have probably guessed by now I don't do things by halves ;)) but I'll let you know once I have something for you to preview.

It was and now you have implemented it to perfection, so that leaves me a little dry of further suggestions.

Well I look forward to review your next launch. Meanwhile I will pedanticly search every corner of your site in hope of finding something missing :D

Cheers

Regarding copy/paste... Apple is going with the Intua C/P for use in Garageband. It is really universal, as I have yet to find an instrument that supports any C/P that will not paste into BM2....

The Apple Core Midi is complicated by manufactures that make their proprietary interfaces, which require a developer to write code to support their proprietary interface. I guess Apple could restrict it, but I'm glad they dont, even though I just use Core midi....

Anyway, I am most stoked now with the "virtual midi" support that is coming to many apps. I think this may be the breakthrough music making on iOS has needed. At least I hope so.....

Along with that, also realize that Apple is bringing Audio Unit support to iOS. Some are saying iOS 5, and some are saying later, but it is coming. When that happens, and synthmakers and sequencer makers respond, it will be too cool :)
