230$ for a compressor plugin (which additionally requires a pecker)?

Thank you for the heads up, but I guess I'll pass on this one.

Looks pretty ... but lacks control.
We are not in the 80s anymore.

Although I've never owned a hardware TLA-100, I owned a DCL-200 for years. A superlative compressor. No software I have has been able to match it. I wish I still had it.

That said, after giving this a very brief initial test, I immediately recognized the sound, which is very encouraging (and a bit surprising).

One of the things I loved about the DCL-200 was the fact that I could just kill it with input gain and it would never sound bad. In my experience, that is where software falls short. I'll be interested to do further testing. So far, I like it.

It's just unnecessary to limit a plugin like that ... emulation hin oder her.
Also this "program dependant auto bla" only works for some stuff and not for everything.

Oh, so you tried the demo?

They added a low cut, parallel and saturation control to the software version. They could have messed with the attack and release, but that kind of defeats the object of making a TLA-100 emulation given that the attack and release control are very much part of the hardwired circuitry.

Here's an idea, why not suggest to Summit they make a digital version of the rack unit that has more controls? After all, it's not the 80s anymore.

Das plug-in sounds sehr gut! I luv it! saturation sounds yummy when dialed sparingly. The compression action seems just right, tried it only on drumbus so far but like what it does there.

Well, it's an emulation ...

And it offers more control than the original.

IIRC, the Tube Tech is way past 300USD. So it is a stepup somewhat. But yes, pricey on the long run, definitely not aimed at small-scale studios.

Then again, did their FET drop in price (down to 150USD)? Woha.
